Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix After the successful home Grand Prix of Hiroshi Aoyama, where he achieved 10th place in yesterday’s race, the second of three successive Grand Prix weekends will take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia next weekend. The racetrack is celebrating its 20th anniversary of Motorcycle Racing and it is also the favourite track of Aoyama, who rode from pole position to victory last year on his way to the 250cc world title, the last ever achieved. Aoyama’s target for the race is high after he got to grips with his Honda RC212V more on his home track in Motegi and the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team went big steps forward with the set up of the bike too. The goal is to better the 10th place that Aoyama earned already at the season opener in Qatar and now again at the Twin Ring in Motegi. The race will take place two hours later than usual next Sunday in Sepang and will start 16:00 h local time. Hiroshi Aoyama: “Sepang is my favourite track and I am looking forward to this race. I learned a lot about my bike on my home track and I really hope indeed that I can be better than 10th, which is my best result this season so far. I was able to celebrate big successes in Sepang in the past and I hope I can also celebrate this time around. We already tested in Malaysia in the winter and I know the track on this bike. If my feeling for the bike is good from the beginning I am sure I can get a better position.” Daniel M. Epp, Team Manager: “Sepang is Hiro’s favourite track and I think, that if we can continue with where we ended in Motegi, we can get even more in front with the result.”
