Antoine Richards (Suz GSX-R600), -17 laps, DNF, crash More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: NASH ROCKS THE PARTY WITH ANOTHER WIN AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK Leeds, AL (Sept 25, 2010) LTD Racing’s Huntley Nash won his third AMA Pro SuperSport race of the year on Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park in a brilliant battle with Joey Pascarella and LTD Racing’s Tomas Puerta. LTD Racing’s Top Gun entry Sam Nash was 15th in the heat of the scenic 2.38-mile track just outside of Birmingham. Nash emerged triumphant in the first of the two races that will determine this year’s National Champion in the class for up-and-coming young talent. He got the holeshot but relinquished the lead momentarily until another rider crashed in the opening laps. Huntley showed his aggressiveness and drive and held the lead through the middle portions of the race. Former LTD Racing rider Joey Pascarella made it a fight and he and Nash traded the lead at the end. On the final lap, Nash was able to re-pass Joey in turn five on the brakes, then hold West points champ off to win and earn LTD Racing’s sixth SuperSport victory this season. “That was a good race for me. I’m really happy. It was an awesome race between Joey and me and it means a lot because it’s the last round of the year and it’s battling for the National Championship,” said the three-time 2010 race winner. “We just went in to moto one and won it to put ourselves in a good position for tomorrow. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to put it up here again tomorrow and take home a Number One plate. We had a good battle out there and it was a lot of fun racing Joey, a good friend. I think this is the best of my three wins this year and it meant a lot for me to do it on the special pink bike. I dedicate this win to my mother.” Nash raced a pink bike to raise awareness for breast cancer, a season long campaign for the Marietta, Georgia native. Nash will donate a potion of his purse to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation and he encourages race fans to research the prevention of breast cancer. Huntley’s mother passed away in 2006. Tomas Puerta was never far from the front in the 17-lap race. He eventually finished a close third in the event as he stuck to the lead group in one of his strongest performances of the season. “I had my worst qualifying of the year so I knew I needed to get a good start,” said Tomy. “I knew I had to do it to keep up with the lead group. When I saw JD (Beach) and (James) Rispoli crash, I just wanted to be there for the last couple of laps to see what would happen. I needed to assure I finished on the podium. I’ll try to be there tomorrow and look to make the pass on the last couple laps.” Sam Nash took fifteenth place and finished on the lead lap. “I was enjoying it out there but taking so much time off, I wasn’t as race-ready as I would have liked,” said Sam of the sweltering conditions. “At the end, I was kinda wishing I was back at law school! But all kidding aside, I’ll hydrate tonight and be ready for tomorrow.” “The boys did a great job and we show up to win and get on the podium,” said LTD Racing’s Gary Medley. “Huntley rode exactly how he’s supposed to ride and he was super out there. Tomas found some speed and he was right there as well. It was a good day for the team but the weekend isn’t over yet. We still have work to do.” SuperSport race two begins at 1 PM local time on Sunday.
