Promising British youngster Tommy Bridewell will contest the 2011 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship aboard full factory-specification Honda machinery for Tyco Racing together with another young British rider to be announced shortly. Having secured sponsorship from Tyco Security Products, the Quay Garage team, owned by Ian Woollacott, has purchased the machinery on which HM Plant Honda riders Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes are contesting the 2010 series and have signed Bridewell and agreed terms with another rider to front their championship challenge. 22-year-old Bridewell, from Devizes in Wiltshire, has impressed in his first full season in British Superbikes and is ready for the challenge. What has been particularly impressive is that Bridewell has been campaigning a three-year-old Honda for the Quay Garage Team this year with a best result of fourth place at Cadwell Park. With effectively the championship-challenging ex HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR Fireblades at their disposal, the riders, who both have World Championship experience, are expected to be front-runners and plan a full winter testing schedule prior to the opening round of the 2011 series which starts at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday, 25th April. In addition to contesting the 2011 MCE Insurance Championship, the team is hoping to contest selected World Superbike Championship rounds for Tyco Racing next season. Phil Dashey – Vice President and General Manager of Tyco Security Products: “When we agreed to sponsor both Tommy and the Quay Garage team at the Silverstone World Superbike and Brands Hatch British Superbike rounds this year, we were very impressed by the effort and commitment shown all round and we had no hesitation in putting a deal together with them for next season. We’re delighted that the team has two very promising young British riders as well as the best machinery we can buy so we and our partners are fully committed to this and looking forward to a successful season in 2011.” Ian Woollacott Team Owner: “It’s been a pretty amazing three months and this is the culmination of all our hard work and to be the first team to announce their plans for British Superbikes next season shows how serious we are about winning. We will have the best two prospects in this country and to have them on the best factory bikes money can buy is fantastic. We are increasing our profile considerably in the paddock thanks to Tyco and our other sponsors and although our proven fundamentals of Quay Garage Racing will remain, this is a brand new and exciting era for the team.” Tommy Bridewell: “When I returned to BSB halfway through last year, little did I think that just over a year later I’d have a deal to ride a bike capable of winning the championship. I’ve seen, first-hand, how quick these bikes are and it will be fantastic to ride one. It’s a dream come true and my thanks to Ian and the team at Quay Garage and also to Phil Dashey and his colleagues at Tyco Security Products for putting this together. I’m under no illusions it’s going to be tough but it will be good to have a team-mate of similar ability. I’ve never had a deal sorted this early so now I can prepare to the maximum for my best shot so far of winning the BSB championship.”
