DYNAMIC WEEKEND FOR WBR | KYLE WYMAN SCORES FIRST PODIUM FINISH MACEDON, NY – The Wyman Brothers were at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ this past weekend for round 9 of the AMA Pro Road Racing series, and another benchmark was reached by oldest brother Kyle, scoring his first ever AMA Pro podium finish in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series race on Sunday. “I got a lucky break getting the holeshot there and getting out front first,” said Kyle, “but then Jake came by me in turn five, and then PJ came by me in the last corner there on the first lap and I knew I had to tag onto one of those guys and try to go with them.” “I brought [PJ] back a little at the end and got by him. He came back by me on the next lap and we were really close. I thought I was going to be able to do it at the end. On the last lap coming out of turn nine with his broken shifter he kind of missed a shift and I was right up underneath his rear end and had to check up a little bit and then I couldn’t get the drive out of there.” This was Kyle’s best result in the class and moves him to 4th place in the standings. Kyle also came away with an 11th place finish in AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike presented by AMSOIL on Sunday. “In race one on Saturday we had a mechanical on the first lap,” said Kyle, “it was the first time all weekend that we put a full fuel load in the bike and it was all dumping out the seam of the gas cap. It’s one of those things, and unfortunately we couldn’t get it fixed in time for the race. Then Sunday came around and I went faster in the morning warmup, and thought I had a good setup for the race but the warmer temperatures got the best of the bike I believe. I got mediocre start and was 12th on the first lap, but immediately I was saving the bike from crashing every lap of the race coming into turn one. I suspected it to be a pretty long race from then on, and it was, so I just soldiered through and picked up the pieces for 11th.” Travis Wyman Results: AMA Pro Supersport race one: 10th Race two: 9th AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series: 5th Cody Wyman Results: AMA Pro Supersport race one: 16th Race two: 18th WBR would like to extend gratitude to it’s sponsors: Harv’s Harley-Davidson, RevisionMusic.com, Long Pond Auto, Arai, Heroic, NPS Racing, Chromeglow.com, OnTheThrottle.tv, Chickenhawk Racing, Superseal, Alpinestars, ODI Grips, Drippin’ Wet, Vortex, Zero Gravity, and MotoOption More, from a press release issued by Richie Morris Racing: ESLICK WINS WILD RACE IN NEW JERSEY FOR GEICO POWERSPORTS RMR SUZUKI GEICO Powersports RMR Suzuki’s Danny Eslick demonstrated exactly how motivated he is to repeat as the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Champion in 2010 with a stirring performance this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Entering with a slim 12-point title advantage, Eslick and his primary titles rivals all brought their ‘A-games’ to NJMP, making for a pair of thrilling battles at the front. Having scored his fourth pole position of the season with a best time of 1:23.564, the Oklahoman duked it out for position with several riders early in Saturday’s 23-lap contest before breaking free of the pack at mid-distance. However, having asked too much of his tires to make that escape, Danny was relegated to fifth by the time he reached the checkered flag. Eslick decided to take a more measured approach to Sunday’s race, but once again found himself dicing for the lead at the front of a 10-rider pack once the adrenaline started pumping. He managed to reformulate his strategy just enough, however, and charged into the lead aboard his GSX-R600 sponsored by GEICO Powesports and Lucas Oil on the final lap with a stunning maneuver past a key challenger to score his third victory of the season. The end result of all the intense weekend action was very little movement at the top of the points race, as Eslick leaves New Jersey Motorsports Park with an 11-point championship lead. “My plan was totally not what I did today,” Eslick laughed after his inspiring Sunday ride. “Yeah, the outcome was, but plan for the race was to sit back and wait and come in strong over the last five laps. But from the green flag that was out the window. I put my head down and went back-and-forth swapping the lead. “I knew it was going to be a bunch of guys going for it, there are always a handful of guys in this class. I didn’t know it was ten and I am glad I didn’t! I didn’t look back, I just wanted to go as hard as I could. Really, it seemed pretty uneventful until the last couple laps. Everybody was right up in the front so I knew something exciting was going to happen for sure.” Commenting on his decisive last-lap pass, Danny said, “I was pretty much committed. If I wasn’t, I probably would have run and hit the side of him and one of us or both of us would have crashed. It could have been really ugly but I was committed before we got there so coming down to the last two races of the championship, it doesn’t get any better or cleaner I guess than that.” Meanwhile, the RMR Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing team continued their total dominance of the Vance & Hines XR1200 class as Jake Holden powered to pole and his first class victory on Sunday on his Revolution Performance-backed machine. Holden staked a 10.161 second lead at the checkered flag. Holden was joined on the podium by teammate Travis Wyman in third while Joseph Rozynski and Michael Corbino finished in sixth and eighth, respectively. With Eslick focused on his SportBike duties, Sunday winner Holden assumed control of the XR1200 championship lead. Eslick’s quest to be re-crowned as the Daytona SportBike champ will be decided on September 24-26 as the season concludes at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL. More, from a press release issued by Penny Nicolai on behalf of Ryan Kerr: RYAN KERR RACING TAKE HOME 8TH OVERALL IN AMA SUPERSPORT EAST Millville, N.J”¦Taking an 11th place and an 8th place finish at the AMA Superbike Weekend, Sept 3-5 at Thunderbolt Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park, in Millville, N.J. earned Ryan Kerr an 8th place overall in this year’s AMA SuperSport East competition. “This was definitely a good weekend for us,” smiles Kerr, whose 8th place finish in Sunday’s race was his best of the season. “We are really happy to end the year in the top 10. This was my very first year in professional racing and our goal was to finish every race. That’s what we did and our consistency paid off.” Turning a wheel on the track for the very first time, Kerr qualified in 14th. Pulling off the grid in the first race, he got a good start and was starting to move up. “We won the SunTrust Bank Most Improved Rider Award for our come-from-behind finish at Virginia International Raceway,” explains Kerr. “Everyone on the team was so pumped and we were determined to do it again.” Unfortunately, the guy in front of me crashed and I had nowhere to go,” explains Kerr. “The only think I could do was come to a dead stop. Luckily I was able to do that, but it cost me about six seconds and lost me any chance of doing well. I managed to move up to 11th, but that was as far as I could go. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I didn’t crash and no one was hurt and that’s the important thing.” On Sunday, Kerr once again got a good start. “This time luck was on my side and I immediately began to move up. I just put my head down and rode as hard as I could. In fact, I actually managed to take over 8th on the very last lap. Thunderbolt Raceway is a great track and I really liked running on it. The crowd was huge and that made it even more exciting. The Ryan Kerr Racing team did an incredible job. They had my Kawasaki running in perfect condition and being able to finish each race is due to their hard work. They are the one’s that kept my act together and I can’t thank them enough. We are going to run at Barber which will be great and I am looking forward to trying my luck there.” Ryan Kerr Racing is sponsored by MJ USA, 614Paintworx, Leo Vince, Arai, Di-Digital Impressions, Woodcraft, KobieC.com, Kawasaki and MJ Motorgear, and Mid-Ohio School.
