More On The Historic Moto Gran Prix, Which Is Scheduled For September 17-19 At Road Atlanta

EVENT UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 17-19, 2010 Historic Moto Gran Prix (HMGP) most recent news on riders and some of the motorcycles that will be displayed during our upcoming event at Road Atlanta includes one of the greatest riders, Mr. Paul Layman, seventy-five years young still riding his 2003 Yamaha R6. As part of Zyvax Team in 2005 and 2006 participating in endurance racing and completing the full hour of events. Tom Kipp’s personal Yamaha YZF, 750 with Vance and Hines factory superbike engine will be on display. Rick Lance, specializing in Suzuki RG’s and Yamaha RZ restorations in 4 cylinder and two stroke engines as well as all other components. Bob Steinbugler, avid collector of Bimota motorcycles with more than fifty in his collection will have a Bomota SB1 TR500 Suzuki GP bike from the late 1960s’, early 1970’s, a YB3 Yamaha Bimota with a TZ350 engine, a Bimota Dieci and a YB4R which was a Virginio Farrari F1 Championship winning motorcycle from 1987. HMGP welcomes owners of historic, vintage, collectible or former factory race bikes, who would like to bring their bikes back out to show or to race on-track. The race format for all competition will be gentleman’s racing, in four classes and grouped largely by production era. Most of our riders are 40 plus representing a vast range of industries and influence and enjoy displaying and riding their classic motorcycles. Special hospitality is available to all participants at no cost during each event and is included with an HMGP membership. Interested parties who are owners of classic or vintage bikes, or those who own former AMA, World Superbike, MotoGP, WERA and CCS bikes are encouraged to join HMGP and show and/or race their vintage bikes at future events. All machines must meet certain criteria to qualify for race and show competitions. October 29-31, 2010 HMGP will feature a special event and vintage bike show in conjunction with HSR, sponsored by the City of Savannah at Hutchinson Island.
