Kris TURNER, USA (APRILIA), 1:56.955, crash More, from a press release issued by Interwetten Honda: INTERWETTEN Honda 125 TEAM – Schrötter improving step by step The first free practice of the U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis was much better than the practice sessions in the prior GPs for Marcel Schrötter and the Interwetten Honda 125 Team. Schrötter finished the practice on 17th position with only 2.3 seconds of a gap to first. This is an immense step forward for the 17 year old and gives him a big portion of motivation for the remaining weekend and tomorrow’s qualifying. A good position on the grid would be the first step to a good result which the Youngster from Bavaria needs and Schrötter hopes he can delight his team with such a result this weekend. Also team manager Terrell Thien is happy about the improvement of his youngest rider and is optimistic for this race. Marcel Schrötter, 17 – 1’51.758: “I am very satisfied with this practice. I haven’t been that close to first until now and I am happy about that. At the beginning of the practice it was quite chaotic on the track and I didn’t really have a feeling for this track yet. I tried to follow a rider and could manage to stay with Cortese for a couple of laps, then I found my own rhythm. I was able to improve step by step from there. We also tried a different tyre, which helped me. I have a good feeling for this weekend and I hope I will also get a good result.” Terrell Thien, Team Manager: “This practice was very positive for Marcel and he improved lap by lap. I am glad about that and looking forward to a good weekend. The entire pre work of Marcel with this circuit was different and really good. He looked at the layout of the track, took some notes about it and got prepared. He was spot on this time. This makes me very optimistic for this weekend. It is a promising start.”
