VESRAH SUZUKI’S NICK MCFADDEN GETS 2 WINS IN THE USGPRU WEST COAST SERIES AT PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY. Nick McFadden traveled out to the west coast region of the USGPRU series to compete at Portland International Raceway in Portland OR on the weekend of August 21-22. Nick learned the track during a practice day held on Friday and then on Saturday proceeded to qualify on pole for both the Moto3 and MD250H races to be held Sunday. Nick was able to win both races held in challenging conditions due to the weather and now heads to the USGPRU MD250H doubleheader at the Indy MotoGP. Mark Junge Team Owner Vesrah Suzuki “It is awesome for Nick to be able to get 2 wins on the weekend at a track he had never seen before. I have to thank Eric Dorn at EDR Performance for his help which made this trip possible and Tray Batey for making the trip out there.” Nick McFadden #195 Vesrah Suzuki “I have had a very nice weekend in Portland. It is my first trip here and I really like the racetrack. The OMRRA and the USGPRU West Coast staff were very nice and welcoming to us, and helpful to get to know their program. My Dad, Tray Batey and I made a quick trip here to try and make a West Coast USGPRU round, to get us eligible for the National Points in the MD250H class. The weather in Portland was so cool – it has been very hot in Kentucky and I enjoyed the cooler weather. I was a little surprised by the rain in the Moto3 race, but I like racing in the rain, so the race almost turned into a dirt track event for me at the end, sliding through the turns. Then the Moriwaki race did the reverse – I had on rains and the track started to dry, so I was hitting any puddle even close to my race line to keep the tires wet. I am so happy to get two wins out of this trip, especially heading to the INDY Moto GP rounds next week, it gives me a big boost. I would like to thank everyone who helped us put this trip together – it took a lot of people helping, especially Mark Junge at Vesrah Suzuki, Eric Dorn at EDR Performance, Tray Batey and my Mom and Dad.” Vesrah Suzuki and Nick McFadden want to thank all of their sponsors for their support for the 2010 season Vesrah, American Suzuki, Rockstar Energy Drink, Nielsen Enterprises Suzuki, West Side Heavy Hauling Inc, Dunlop Tires, Traxxion Dynamics Fork Components, Arai Helmets, Graves Motorsports, Hotbodies Racing Bodywork, Sudco Int., Bazzaz, Factory Pro, Maxima Racing Oils, Vortex, DID Chain, Penske Racing Shocks, GPR Stabilizers, Trek Bicycles, GP Tech, Active & Road Rage Designs More, from a press release issued by Chris “Opie” Caylor’s publicist: Opie’s Home Away from Home Komodo and Arai sponsored Opie Caylor returned to his “home track” Talladega Gran Prix Raceway this past weekend for a Suzuki contingency paying WERA Southeast Regional race. Following an engine problem and using borrowed bikes at Road Atlanta, Opie was back on his normal ride his potent Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSXR750 along with a brand new engine. For Saturdays Heavyweight Solo 20 event, Opie used Luie Zendejas’ KWS built 2008 Suzuki GSXR1000 that he’s borrowing while Luie is away serving our country. Opie rode away to a convincing win in the scorching heat and had this to say about it afterwards; “On such a hot day, I really focused on just putting good laps together. The changes that I made to Luie’s bike back at Marietta Motorsports really made a big difference and the bike is super strong using VP Racing Fuels MRX01. As far as the race went, I pushed hard early, backed off the pace a little in the middle of the race just to allow myself a little recovery time and then wicked it back up for the remaining 6 or 7 laps.” On Sunday, Opie continued his winning ways by turning consistent lap times in the low 57’s and taking wins in A Superstock, B Superstock, B Superbike and Formula One. At days end after the awards ceremony Opie said “It’s great to come to Talladega on a Suzuki money weekend and have the pace to get the wins in the classes that I needed to win. But, I would love to see the grids full like they used to be. I’m not saying there’s no competition at all, I’m saying I would love to see deeper fields! I know entries are down everywhere right now! I’d just like to see more people out here racing! I do think things will get better. What I do see is there are some older guys out here really starting to step it up. And there is a youth movement of some fast kids coming up too. It’ll get better!” Opie Caylor, aboard his Scott Moore painted Suzuki GSXR 750, will be back in action at the Barber Motorsports Park round of the WERA National Challenge Series in September.
