DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 17, 2010) – Due to the success of the inaugural Arizona Mile AMA Pro K&N Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com event last May, the management at Yavapai Downs in Prescott Valley, Arizona has taken the difficult decision to postpone the running of the AMA Pro K&N Grand National Championship Short Track race until 2011. The overall seating configuration needed for the event to properly showcase the Short Track event would not have been available and therefore, the decision to focus on the Budweiser Arizona Mile event was taken.
“We were overtaken by the success of our first race in May and we hate to do it, but it has to be done this year,” said Gary Spiker, GM Yavapai Downs. “With our limited seating, Yavapai Downs has elected to cancel the Short Track Grand National so the bleachers from the ¼ mile dirt track can be moved to the mile track to increase our over-all seating capacity.”
The original plan for 2010 was to run the Inaugural Arizona Mile on May 1, 2010 with the return of Short Track and Budweiser Arizona Mile National on October 9-10, 2010 to wrap up the series season.
“Gary and I have been working together on various ways to keep the short track on the schedule by actually moving the race from Prescott Valley Raceway to the front straight of the mile, but we just ran out of time,” said Mike Kidd, AMA Pro Racing Director of Flat Track. “This was a tough decision for everyone; however I understand their concern of not having enough seats on the Mile to accommodate the large crowd.”
The final round of the series will now take place on Saturday, October 9th with the running of the Budweiser Arizona Mile at Yavapai Downs in Prescott Valley, AZ Tickets will go on sale Monday, August 23rd at www.gettix.net For further information on the 2010 AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com please visit www.gettix.net
