Hunter Propst (Suz GSX-R600), 1:37.748 More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: PUERTA AND NASH IN THE TOP FIVE AT VIR Alton, VA (August 13, 2010) — LTD Racing’s Tomas Puerta qualified third and Huntley Nash earned fifth despite some Friday the 13th dramas during Friday’s AMA Pro SuperSport provisional qualifying session. Matias Cassano of Buenos Aires, Argentina earned 18th spot in his first day of racing with the team. Puerta improved his time late in the session to jump on the provisional front row, but had a crash just after setting his best time. “Third is good,” said Tomas. “I made a mistake at the end but the good news is the bike is in good shape and we don’t have to change anything out. We will try a different setting on the rear tomorrow. We are having a good weekend. I know this is a good track and I am feeling way better now.” Nash was fifth quickest at 1:30.587 but did not get the benefit from a fresh tire late in the session like the other riders. “I’m not real happy about our mix-up in the pits during qualifying but all it really means is I did not set an ideal quick time. That’s what the fresh tire really does. I was third fastest on race tires, which is a more realistic way to look at it. We are looking forward to getting another shot at qualifying tomorrow and then for the races. We plan on earning some good results here like we have at other races.” Matias Cassano showed improvement in his first day at VIR. The racer from Argentina acclimated himself to the circuit and put in a very respectable time of 1:33.173, good for 18th best in a large and competitive SuperSport field. “Third and fifth “¦ we’ll take it as it is for now,” said LTD Racing’s Gary Medley. “We have some improvements in mind and our goal is to have the riders ready for the races. Matias is coming along as well and he’s learning and getting faster.”
