A video has popped up on YouTube showing Geoff May’s Erik Buell Racing 1190RR racebike fitted with reflectors on the forks legs, turn signals and a license plate hanger on the tail section, and operational radiator cooling fans, which are all streetbike requirements and not normally used in racing. In fact, a voice is heard during the video pointing out the radiator fans and that they are out of place, presumably, on a racebike. Project “Barracuda 2,” a Buell 1190R streetbike and 1190RR racebike, was in its final stages of development when Harley-Davidson decided to shut down Buell Motorcycle Company in October 2009. The 1190R/1190RR is a lighter, narrower, more powerful version of the 1125R. In a feature in the upcoming September 2010 issue of Roadracing World, Erik Buell talks about the demise of Buell Motorcycle Company, his current goals to keep his brand alive via Erik Buell Racing and his future plans once he is no longer shackled by pre-existing non-compete agreements with former employer Harley-Davidson, Inc.
