An Arai helmet custom-painted by Troy Lee Designs and worn by Elena Myers during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix/AMA Pro Road Racing event July 23-25, 2010 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca helped raise $1460 for the Roadracing World Action Fund, a 501(3) c not-for-profit organization that promotes rider safety by advocating the deployment of soft barriers (Airfence) at racetracks nationwide.

Roadracing World staffers and Myers sold raffle tickets at the event, raising $730. Myers’ sponsor, Lucas Oil, then matched that amount, bringing the total contribution to the Roadracing World Action Fund to $1460.

In addition to the custom-painted helmet, which Myers wore during her AMA Pro SuperSport race July 24, other prizes included a Troy Lee Designs helmet bag (autographed by Myers) and a Troy Lee Designs T-shirt, and an assortment of Lucas Oil motorcycle oil and bike care products worth $75.

Following the conclusion of the MotoGP race, Myers drew the winning ticket with assistance from Lucas Oil National Sales Manager Mark Sromalla and Roadracing World’s Hayley Ulrich and Natalie Ulrich.

Contributors to this fundraiser for the Roadracing World Action Fund included Lucas Oil Products, Arai Helmets, Troy Lee Designs and Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology magazine.

Raffle Results:

First Prize: Autographed Elena Myers Arai helmet (worn by Myers during the AMA Pro SuperSport race at Laguna Seca and specially-painted by Troy Lee Designs). Winner: Michelle Nunes

Second Prize: Troy Lee Designs helmet bag and T-shirt. Winner: Kim Hood

Third Prize: $75 worth of Lucas Oil motorcycle oil and bike care products. Winner: Keith Souter

The Roadracing World Action Fund has raised over $700,000 and has deployed soft barriers at road courses and dirt tracks throughout the United States. Many crashed riders have benefited by impacting soft barriers instead of hard walls or embankments.
