EX250 Only Endurance Race, Ed Bargy Race School and Trackday Weekend Talladega, AL – Marietta Motorsports is proud to announce our inaugural race weekend September 4th and 5th at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway: featuring an open to the public trackday; Ed Bargy Race School; and a “don’t wanna miss,” EX250 only, endurance race! The endurance race will be Sunday, September 5th and made up entirely of 250cc, 4-stroke motorcycles competing in a four hour race. Featuring pit stops for fuel, tires and rider changes on similarly modified motorcycles (allowing little to no performance advantages), this competition will surely produce some of the best racing ever seen at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Alabama. There will be two classes for the EX250 endurance race: pre-2007 EX250s and another for the newer 2008+ Ninja 250Rs. Prizes will be given for overall winner and top-three in each class (along with some special, surprise giveaways). Licensed racers from most recognized motorcycle organization are invited to enter their EX’s and teams via the www.EX250endurance.com website where you can also check out the rules, forms and schedules. There’s also a fansite at www.facebook.com/EX250Endurance with photos and links to share before coming out to watch this awesome race. The Saturday before the race (September 4th) has a lot of action also with a trackday that is open to the public, an Ed Bargy Race School for those who need to get their license to race in the endurance race, and sessions for just the EX bikes to practice. Bring your street or race bike over to this 1.4 mile course (that was primarily designed for motorcycles) and ride without fear of little old ladies in Buicks, teenagers on cell phones, and / or cops under the watchful and helpful eyes of our control riders. Or even if you don’t need it for the next day you may still want to consider taking the Ed Bargy Race School and learn from one of the most respected instructors in the US. Sign-up sheets for the track day and Bargy School are also located on the www.EX250endurance.com website. We are very excited companies like Woodcraft Technologies and Bridgestone have agreed to support the EX endurance race by offering contingency to our competitors! Let’s support those who support the sport! We’re looking for other companies who would like to offer support or product and of course would love to speak to anyone wishing to sponsor any of the classes, awards and / or the race as a whole as a contributing or named sponsor. This race has already generated a lot of interest from its inception and is reaching a large and diverse audience across several areas of the motorcycling fan base. People will be talking about this race for a very long time! Please contact Craig ‘Huey’ Stewart at [email protected] for more information or with any questions. A portion of the proceeds from this weekend will be going to help build a playground area at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway. This playground will allow younger family members to have a safe, quiet, out of the way place to enjoy the day while someone they know is burning up the track. What will the first few laps of a tightly grouped pack of 30 EX250s sound like screaming around “Tally”? We can’t wait to find out!
