Michelin Pro Series Sanctioned by ASRA July 24, 2010 New Jersey Motorsports Park Millville, NJ The Heat is On at NJMP’s Thunderbolt Raceway The Michelin Pro Series was met with near record heat and humidity as the series set out to qualify in the late afternoon at Thunderbolt Raceway. The air temperature was still at 96°and 60% humidity when the first of four qualifying sessions hit the 2.25 mile-14 turn circuit. The SuperStock pole was all Nate Kern as the BMW of Manhattan Motorcycles rider posted his best lap of 1:25.278 on lap 3 besting the second place qualifier by 7 tenths of a second. The DAS Performance Suzuki 1000 of Shane Narbonne qualified second with a solid 1:26.020 followed by Timothy Bemisderfer of Greencastle PA on another BMW S1000RR. Rounding out the front row it was Bob Michael of Centreville MD on his KTM RC8R. For SuperBike, it was Multi-time ASRA National Champion Jeff Wood returning to Michelin Pro Series competition with a bang, putting his Yamaha 600 on pole with an amazing 1:24.584. Narbonne pushed his Suzuki 600 into second with a 1:25.386 followed by AJ Krause on a Kawasaki 600. Finishing the front row for SuperBike is Hylnur Atlason aboard his Ducati 848. In the ThunderBike class, Joey Thomas from Accident MD captured pole position with a 1:32.482 with his Ducati 1000. Just 3 tenths of a second behind was Michelin Pro Series veteran Joe Rozynski on his Buell XB12 at 1:32.785, followed by Eric Helmbach on a Suzuki 650 and Joel Spalding on his Ducati 749. During the final session of the afternoon for the SportBike class, Jeff Wood on the Yamaha slowed just a bit to a 1:24.853, still good enough for his second pole position of the day. Shane Narbonne secured second position over 2009 SportBike Champion Paul Allison. Filling out the front row is Mike Selpe on his Yamaha 600, looking to take over the championship point lead by a good finish in the SportBike final.
