Mini road racing promoter M1GP is hosting a 24-hour road race at the Willow Springs International Raceway kart track in September, the organization has announced. The M1GP 24 Hour Super Endurance Motorcycle Race is scheduled to be flagged off at noon on Saturday, September 11, and is set to conclude at noon the following day. “We think for the racers, 24 hours seems to be the benchmark for any serious endurance racing. I want to put the challenge out there to the California racers,” says Young Lee, Race Director and promoter for M1GP. “And also, it’s an excellent way for brands to showcase their products. It’s not the 24 hours of Le Mans, but it is 24 hours of proving their products.” Practice is scheduled for Saturday morning at the 0.6-mile, nine-turn track. There will be no timed qualifying grid and pit positions will be set by order of entry, first-come, first-served. The race will be open to riders six years of age and older. Three classes of motorcycles are scheduled to participate. They include: – Stock 50cc two-stroke machines such as the Honda NSR50, the Yamaha YSR50 and the Aprilia RS50. – Modified machines with a maximum 65cc two-stroke or 125cc four-stroke engine. – Stock 85cc to 150cc four-stroke machines. Complete rules are available on the M1GP web site at ~http://www.m1-grandprix.com~. For more information, contact Lee at (310) 497-3155.
