Former AMA Formula Xtreme and 750cc Supersport/Superstock Champion Jason Pridmore will compete on a Celtic Racing/Orient Express Suzuki GSX-R1000 in this coming weekend’s AMA Pro Superbike event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Barry [Gilsenan, Team Owner] at Celtic Racing and I are good friends,” Pridmore told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “He had an entry for this weekend but no one to ride his bike. Originally, I was supposed to be racing at the Suzuka 8 Hours this weekend with my World Endurance team, BK Maco Moto, but they decided not to go. That left me free, and I really wanted to ride. “Over the last two years I haven’t really been tempted to come out and race in the AMA just because of all the controversy and how the series was being run, but I’ve been really happy with how things have gone this year and how the new guys are running the show. So I’m looking forward to coming out and having some fun.” Pridmore’s entry is one of 28 (the second-highest number this season) for this weekend’s race. Among the other riders entered are: moto-journalist Steve Atlas, on a MotoUSA Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 project bike; 15-time AMA Superbike race winner Eric Bostrom, who will compete in his second race on the very trick Cycle World Attack Performance Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 magazine project bike; multi-time AMA Champion Miguel Duhamel, who will ride a Moto Forza Ducati 1098R; former AMA regular Hawk Mazzotta, who is entered to ride ACE Racing’s Yamaha YZF-R1; Brian Parriott, who returns on the Sutter Home Family Vineyards Aprilia RSV4 Factory he raced at Infineon Raceway; Chris Peris, who makes another appearance on his ESP Iron Horse BMW S1000RR; and Jeremy Toye, on his San Diego BMW Powered by Lee’s Cycles S1000RR.
