Australian Supersport Championship contender Brodie Waters will race in the Suzuka 4-Hours in Japan on 24 July, the talented Victorian receiving an invite from Japanese engineering giant Moriwaki Racing to contest the event. Waters will partner Japanese rider Yoshitaka Miyajima in the event on the Moriwaki Club Racing team a junior team owned by the legendary Mamoru Moriwaki and managed by his son Shogo. The team has been victorious in the 4-Hours for the past three years, Waters excited to be joining the effort for the 2010 running of the event. “I’m looking forward to the event and have been trying to get everything organised,” 18-year-old Waters commented. “They say it’s like 98 to 100 percent humidity over there, so I’ve been preparing my leathers with a Camelbak and that kind of thing to help me through the race. “Hopefully I can be as fast as my Japanese teammate or even quicker to show I have what it takes overseas, and I’m really looking forward to riding for Moriwaki I think I will be on one of the best bikes and on the best team over there for that race.” Waters has never visited the world famous 5.807-kilometre Suzuka Circuit before, however he’s confident he can learn the ropes thanks to the help of fellow Aussie Wayne Maxwell, who will be participating in the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hours on the same weekend. “Wayne has offered to help me out as he has done quite a few laps over there recently in testing,” the Mildura local continued. “It will be good to have another Aussie over there with me, Wayne has always helped me a lot so it will be a real benefit.” It’s an exciting time for the Waters family as reigning Australian Superbike Champion Josh Waters, older brother to Brodie, is currently in the United States and is scheduled contest two rounds of the American championship. “It’s been quite exciting at home lately since Josh is in America and then I got the phone call from Japan to go over for Suzuka last Sunday,” he said. “It’s a good thing for mum and dad since they’ve put so much money into us over the years, so hopefully this leads on to bigger and better things.” Waters will swap his usual Suzuki GSX-R600 Supersport machine for a Moriwaki Racing Honda CBR600RR Superstock bike at the Suzuka event, set to fly out on Monday 13 July for testing on 15-16 July in preparation for the ST600 race.
