TROY THRILLS PETROLHEADS AT GOODWOOD “Glorious Goodwood” is a term normally reserved for the world famous horse racing event held at Goodwood every year but, thanks to the superb weather over the three days, Glorious Goodwood was what most people will think of when they remember this year’s Festival of Speed. For three days the sun shone and over 150,000 spectators basked in the heat as they watched the stars of motorsport enjoy themselves at the biggest car and bike event in UK. Originally, the Festival of Speed was a car event, featuring all the top F1 teams and the biggest stars in different 4-wheel disciplines from all over the world, but in recent years, Goodwood has warmly embraced two wheels and now they are seen as an important part of the event. Despite a very hectic calendar, Troy took part in this year’s Festival of Speed, though it took a mad dash from the Imola tests last week to get back in time for Goodwood. Troy’s BMW Motorrad Motorsport team however could not get back in time because of getting the bike ready for Brno next weekend and also because of a clash with BMW Biker Days in Garmisch. So Troy rode the famous hill-climb course on a BMW S 1000 RR Superstock bike kindly provided by UK BMW Dealer, Park Lane motorcycles. As bikes are not timed up the hill, Troy was able to cruise around, wave to the fans and generally put of a good display. Troy The Festival of Speed is a must-see, absolutely fantastic event. It’s hard to explain to people what it is all about, because it is about so many different things. Where else can the fans get so close to the stars, F1 cars and racing bikes? It’s great to be able to mix with current F1 guys like Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Weber as well as legends like Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Jackie Stewart. The weather was superb this year and I’m sure that all the fans had a wonderful time – I did!
