Championship Cup Series Heads to Homestead for 27th Annual Race of Champions Fort Worth, TX, USA — The Championship Cup Series (CCS) announces the selection of Homestead-Miami Speedway as the location for the 27th Annual Race of Champions. The Race of Champions event is the season finale for the Championship Cup Series and its affiliates featuring a run-off race to decide the 2010 CCS National Champions in 43 different classes of competition. All licensed riders from the seven CCS regions are invited to attend the season finale, then each entered rider is placed on the starting grid for the CCS National Championship based on their performance throughout the season in the regional championship series. This method places the best riders from every region next to each other for the sprint to a CCS National Championship. “With the advent of much rain this past winter and the resulting repairs required at our traditional venue, Dayton International Speedway, the search was on to find a replacement track as soon as they announced the Daytona re-paving project in April. We’ve run the Race of Champions at Homestead-Miami once before and routinely run Florida Region races at the track”, said CCS Director of Operations, Kevin Elliott. “We wanted to have a similar venue to the Daytona experience, and we think Homestead-Miami brings that to the riders and fans. The last time the Race of Champions was here in 2004, the Floridians struggled to win the majority of the titles at one of their home tracks, and with competition from best riders of the other six regions, it’ll be interesting to see who will prevail,” said Elliott. The Race of Champions is scheduled for October 15 – 17 and will feature all the national runoffs for each CCS class as well as Round 8 of the ASRA sanctioned Michelin Team Challenge and Michelin Pro Series. The Championship Cup Series (CCS) is the largest grass-roots motorcycle road racing organization in the United States with 4000 licensed riders. The Series runs 51 events at popular tracks around the united states. Tracks include Road America, Daytona, Loudon, Firebird, Heartland Park, and Virginia International among other fine venues.
