Original Mike’s restaurant and Youth Road Racing USA co-host Fathers Day & Youth bike night in Santa Ana, Ca! Santa Ana, Calif. (June 8, 2010) Original Mikes Restaurant who hosts a weekly bike night every Thursday has teamed up with Youth Road Racing USA to host a youth focused bike night highlighting youth road racing and safety for kids on bikes! With over 500 people attending the weekly bike night, the event has grabbed the attention of a very broad riding community catering to sport bikes, cruisers and the touring scenes. Original Mikes has wanted to give the bike night more of a family feel and encourage family’s to come out and enjoy the weekly fun. With Youth Road Racing USA’s support they will showcase up and coming youth riders provide information on the proper safety gear for youth road racing and discuss the options families have to get involved in the sport. “We are so excited to work with Original Mikes; the people that organize the event do a great job at taking your traditional bike night and putting a new twist on it to make it more of a real event than just a bunch of sport bikes showing up.” says Youth Road Racing USA founder and SCminiGP President Josiah Taulbee. “I can’t wait to bring our element to the night and show case up and coming StepUp riders. We’ll have real race bikes on display and be talking about of the gear available for any youth road racer or riding passengers!” Youth road racing is a growing sport in the US and Southern California is supported by local organization SCminiGP who has had a number of talented riders such as Austin Dehaven and Lex Hartl come from the program. With the weekend prior being Fathers Day and kids just getting out of school for the summer it was appropriate to bring the two elements together and make for a fun and exciting evening. SCminiGP will be hosting round #5 of their 9 race series championship at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, Ca. As an effort to bring spectators out, a ride will be organized from Original Mikes to the race track and back to Original Mikes on Sunday.
