Bemisderfer, Patterson, Spalding Qualify Fastest For Monday’s Featured ASRA Races At Summit Point

Michelin Pro Series Qualifying for Summit Point, West Virginia With clear skies and the temperature hovering near 80 degrees Michelin Pro Series riders qualified today for Monday’s annual Memorial Day Summit Point Cyclefest. Track conditions this weekend have been described as slippery and somewhat unpredictable as some riders struggled to find traction on the recently re-worked track. The first qualifying session commenced just after noon with SuperStock. Tim Bemisderfer captured the pole with a 1:14.159 on his Honda 1000. Jason Palmer was second, Antal Halasz was third and Terry Taylor took the fourth spot on the grid finishing out the front row. In SportBike qualifying Ryan Patterson took the pole position with a 1:15.588 aboard hi Yamaha R6, followed by Ryan Jones, Peter Cramer and rounding out the front row, Mark Miller. For the ThunderBike session Joel Spalding turned 1:19.631 taking the pole with his Ducati 749. Joey Thomas was second followed by Eric Helmbach. Max Grant snagged the final front row grid position. Qualifying ended with the SuperBike class. Ryan Jones, riding his Kawasaki 600, took the pole position with a 1:15.909. Mark Miller was second on the grid and Clinton Wiggins third. American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) is the parent organization of the Championship Cup Series and sanctions eight Michelin Pro Series and eight Michelin Team Challenge road racing events for 2010. The Championship Cup Series (CCS) is the largest grass roots motorcycle road racing organization in the United States with 4,000 licensed riders and 51 sanctioned events at popular tracks around the country including Road America, Daytona, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Firebird, Heartland Park, and Virginia International among other fine venues. In 2010 CCS provides riders with access to nearly $10,000,000 in sponsorship awards through participation in it’s sanctioned events.
