Galster Wins Four Races in 2nd Round of MRA Season Denver Colorado: Josh Galster finished the second round of the MRA season this past weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway, south of Colorado Springs CO, with four race wins, a 2nd and a 5th place finish. Having just completed a couple of weeks of working with the California Superbike School on the east coast, Galster flew into Denver on Friday afternoon with just enough time to load the trailer and make his way down to the track to set-up for the weekend. With only a few practice seasons to learn the unfamiliar circuit, and despite the modified lines due to water seeping through the crack in the pavement, he was able to get his times down to a quick 1:00.3. The first race of the weekend, Middleweight Supersport saw Galster finishing 2nd and dropping his time by a full second. Feeling more and more comfortable on the bumpy circuit as the afternoon progressed he was able to finish out Saturday’s racing with a win. Sunday was surprisingly warm and very busy for Galster with practices, two qualifying sessions, and four races. He had his work cut out for him. He qualified on pole for the Race of the Rockies GTU race with a 58.289 and then qualified 3rd in the Race of the Rockies GTO race against the 1000cc bikes. Despite a few poor starts he was able to get through the crowd and pull away, ending Sunday with 3 race wins and a 5th place finish against the big bikes in the Race of the Rockies GTO race. Galster is now on his way out to Salt Lake City, UT where he will be competing in the Superbike Challenge GTU race over Memorial Day weekend alongside the World Superbike Races. Josh would like to specially thank Eric Cromer and Travis Graham for their help over the weekend, as well as his sponsors; Slednecks, BAZI, EDR Performance, California Superbike School, Grandprix Motorsports, Dunlop, Arai, LeoVince, and his parents. More, from a press release issued by Racing for a Wish: Gerry Signorelli earns two podiums at Miller WERA National The Racing for a Wish Team with rider Gerry Signorelli on board the BMW Motorcycles of Utah BMW S1000RR traveled to Miller Motorsports Park last weekend for the WERA National. The event was held in conjunction with the Masters of the Mountains Round #2. Combining the two events helped grid numbers reach nearly forty bikes in some races. Signorelli contested the Open/A Superstock, Formula 1/KoM GTO, and Open Superbike classes. Signorelli and the team took part in a great grand opening celebration for BMW Motorcycles of Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday May 22nd where BMW stunt rider Chris “Teach” McNeil put on a show for all the motorcycle fans present. Races took place at the track on Sunday and Signorelli was to face a very talented field of AMA veterans. Intermountain Racer Supply was at the track all weekend providing riders with Pirelli tires which Signorelli used to finish in third in both the Formula 1 and Open Superbike Races. Both races were exciting with Jeremy Toye winning both races also on a BMW S1000RR. Signorelli rode hard to hold off a hard challenging Brian Stokes all race long in Open Superbike. After the weekend, Gerry now leads Open Superbike and Open Superstock in the Masters of the Mountains Series. “We had a really fun and successful weekend and I want to thank Intermountain Racer Supply for their support all weekend. We put in a lot of testing and with their help and have come up with a package with the BMW S1000RR and Pirelli tires that seems to be working great! I can’t wait to race again at the Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge during the World Superbike Event”, exclaimed Signorelli. Gerry gets faster every time out on the bike and is learning all the time. More, from a press release issued by JiR Moto2 Team: Simone Corsi after Le Mans Simone, tell us about your thoughts about the new Moto2 World Championship. Since the winter test I’ve understood that this category would become very challenging and that everything we have to start afresh from what we knew before in other classes (125 and 250cc), not only about riders but also from the technical point of view, nobody before knew these bikes, I realized this could turn into a really special occasion and so I wanted to come in Moto2. Qatar, Jerez, Le Mans: an improvement race after race. After pre-season tests I understood we had to change something important because our results on the timesheets were unsatisfying. With the team we decided not to focus all our attentions on technical aspects but improve my riding style. I changed my approach to the races, on how to develop practice and qualifying sessions and I took the benefit from important advice that let me improve my performances continuously. Podium in Le Mans and also third place in World Championship. At this moment what counts most is to continue our steady improvements, I am conscious we could do better but I need to understand things and react step-by-step. They was I see it, I’m at school, I’m learning how to approach and manage the race weekend, Luca Montiron wants to apply a specific way to work and I see now the tangible results in all we’re doing. The good thing is we are all improving the whole team. So it is a real 360° thing. A challenging category, this Moto2. Each session there’s a big fight against the stopwatch, with many, many riders covered by just a few tenths of second, it’s enough to say that in Le Mans the first 30 riders were covered by little more than a second. The start is pretty important and can affect the final result, as well as the choice of the tyres, and these must be managed all race long. In France I saw many riders end up their race by the side of the track. Do you think it could be affecting your team to be the only two riders to have this bike and chassis combination on track? For us the situation has been clear since the beginning, during races I don’t see important differences between our bikes and doing the fast lap on the final lap make me think we’re doing pretty good. In the team we simply share data, but then each one makes his own way, and this would be the same if there would be more teams with our frame and chassis. Home race in Mugello on June 6th. Mugello’s uphills and downhills are exciting for almost every rider and getting there with us third in the championship after a podium is even more motivating. I’m looking forward to take the track, there will be crowds of people colouring the surrounding hills, it will be a tough race because the track is hard and I definitely want to be up there at the front. How will you be preparing yourself for the Mugello race? I’ll do some running sessions and some kart racing, I don’t like too much motocross: I think it’s a little too dangerous considering the races we have to run! And, of course, my job: I’ll be in Motodromo in Castelletto di Branduzzo for the whole week there for the riding course. I’m the instructor and I need to keep a steady income, as for me Moto2 is just for fun! More, from a press release issued by Putter Power Media on behalf of Brock’s Performance: WERA WINNERS ROLL TO VICTORY WITH BST CARBON-FIBER WHEELS DAYTON, Ohio. (May 26, 2010) – Jeremy Toye and Tim Hunt continued their winning ways on BST wheels at round three of the WERA National Challenge series, held at Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah. Toye, riding a Roadracingworld.com BMW S 1000 RR project bike, which is also sponsored by Lee’s Cycle and San Diego BMW, earned a pair of victories in the series’ premier WERA Superbike and Formula 1 classes early in the German superbike’s development cycle. After a great weekend in Utah, Toye said: “It’s pretty amazing that we’re already going this good and the bike isn’t even set up the way I like it yet. I can’t wait to see its full potential!” Team Hooters/Apex Racing-backed Hunt continued his domination of the Superbike Expert class on a newly prepped CBR1000RR equipped with a Brock’s Performance CT Single titanium exhaust system and BST carbon-fiber wheels. On a similarly outfitted GSX-R1000, he also took second place in Open Superstock. “We ran the BST wheels on our new Honda and the Suzuki,” said Hunt. “I found them to be equally effective in handling and speed gains on both bikes. I dropped one second in my lap times on the Suzuki with BSTs in Senior Superbike compared to the Open Superstock race (which doesn’t allow aftermarket wheels).” Hunt currently leads WERA’s points tallies in two national classes and 11 regional classes. Team Hooters also carded a pair of second-place showings in the six-hour WERA National Endurance race. Hunt, Skip Salenius and Billy Ethridgeon rode a GSX-R1000 in the Heavyweight class, while the Middleweight squad consisted of James “The Rocket” Rispoli, Blake Jones and Bryce Prince. Team Hooters’ Captain Hunt was in the saddle for more than half of the six-hour event. “In the final hour,” he said, “I was running the same lap times as I did at the beginning. The ease of riding the bike with the BSTs and how much less energy it takes to move it around is amazing.” Toye is looking to continue his success at the Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge, which will run in conjunction with the World Superbike Series this weekend. Hunt is preparing to compete in the next AMA Pro roadrace, at Road Atlanta, on June 4 – 6. Transforming the ways a bike accelerates, handles and stops, BST wheels are available from Brock’s Performance in standard and race-specific sizes for Japanese and European sportbikes, as well as Harley-Davidson’s XR1200 and V-Rod.
