Injured Racer Russ Wikle On His Way Home To Alabama

Racer Russ Wikle, injured when he fell and was hit by another rider during Sunday’s AMA Pro Daytona SportBike race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, has been released from the hospital and is on his way home to Huntsville, Alabama. Russ Wikle and his mother Libby Wikle are flying home tonight from San Francisco Airport, while his father Luther Wikle drives the family motorhome and race trailer home. As of 7:00 p.m. today, Luther Wikle was about 130 miles north of Bakersfield, California on Interstate 5, headed south. Luther Wikle told Roadracingworld.com that doctors have said that Russell will be able to ride again in four weeks. Russell suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, a ruptured spleen and a bruised liver in the crash on Sunday.
