During the month of May, most 17-year-olds are worried about attending the senior prom and passing their final high-school exams. For Tyler Odom of Torrance, California, his big test will come at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, over Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31. Odom has been accepted by the Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme (FIM), the international sanctioning body for motorcycle racing, as a Wild Card entrant for the upcoming Supersport World Championship race to be held as part of the Lucas Oil Utah USA Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship presented by HANNspree. Although it is a huge step for someone so young, Odom has years of experience to draw from. He has been racing motorcycles since the age of four and has competed in road racing since he turned eight years old. He is currently a full-time competitor in the AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike Series, and also races in semi-pro club races on the west coast. “I’m really excited to have been accepted as a Wild Card entrant for the Supersport World Championship event at Miller Motorsports Park,” Odom said. “It’s the biggest opportunity of my life, and I know I’m going to be really nervous, but I’m going to give it 100 percent and do my best.” Odom will be one of the five American riders competing in the Supersport World Championship event at Miller Motorsports Park. He will be riding the No. 46 Honda CBR600 fielded by the renowned Erion Racing team. Team owner Kevin Erion is a longtime fixture in the sport and is very confident in his young protégé. “Tyler Odom is one of the brightest young talents to emerge on the American racing scene in recent years,” Erion said. “I’m looking forward to see how competitive he will be on the world stage with some of the best teams and riders in the business, and to watch his progress in the years to come.” Odom’s primary sponsors are Go Green Asphalt.COM, Murray Company, American Standard, Clement Support Services Inc., Columbia Specialty Corporation, Express Pipe & Supply Co., Inc, Milwaukee Valve Company, Jay R. Smith MFG. Co., and International Seismic Application Technology, Smardan Supply Co., P&E Insulation In, Honda Pro Oils & Chemicals, Alpinestar leathers, Arai Helmets.
