Registration For Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge At Miller Motorsports Park Closes May 14

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (May 5, 2010) “” Registration closes Friday, May 14 for Superbike Challenge during the Lucas Oil Utah USA Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship presented by HANNspree at Miller Motorsports Park. An AMA race license is not needed, and reciprocity is open to all major racing organizations. Competitors must be at least 14 years of age. For registration information, visit www.superbikechallenge.com Racers must satisfy the following licensing requirements: 1) be an AMA Member, 2) hold a current expert class or equivalent road racing license from a recognized club (including but not limited to CMRA, CCS, AHRMA, OMRRA, WMRRA, USGPRU, MRA, AFM, WSMC, WERA), 3) must have held an expert class license for at least one full year, and 4) must be at least 14 years of age. Alternatively, a racer may hold an AMA Pro Racing license (the license will satisfy all three requirements listed above), or may petition for inclusion due to special circumstances. Race classes are GTU and GTO, which are essentially middleweight and open classes that allow nearly unlimited modifications and have no homologation rules. GTO is open to unlimited displacement and origin. GTU class is open to a wide variety of middleweight motorcycles from 430cc two-strokes to unlimited displacement air-cooled twins. The Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge is the support race to the Lucas Oil Utah USA Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship presented by HANNspree May 29-31, 2010. The Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge, which will be sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and operated by the Utah SportBike Association (USBA), will be comprised of two USBA classes, GTO and GTU, each of which will have a separate 30-minute race. A total purse of $40,000 is being offered for the two races. The GTO race will pay $6000 to win, with $4000 for second, $3500 for third, $2500 for fourth and $1800 for fifth, paying down to $200 each for 12th through 16th. The GTU race will pay $5000 to win, with $3000 for second, $2500 for third, $1500 for fourth and $1000 for fifth, paying down to $200 each for 11th through 16th.
