AMA Pro Racing is testing an on-board warning light system during the two-day team test now going on at Infineon Raceway. According to AMA Pro Racing’s Al Ludington, the system includes warning lights on the motorcycle dash and under the tailpiece. A larger warning light is positioned at the apex of Turn Six, in what Ludington described as “a foam block.” Each digital LED warning light is capable of displaying the colors green, yellow, red, blue or purple-green (representing a black flag). Ludington said that the system is activated by race control, incorporates a repeater positioned on the back side of the course and is being developed by Clearwater Lights. ~http://clearwaterlights.com/~ The purpose of the system is to make it harder for riders to miss warning flags. It was tested today with lights fitted to motorcycles ridden by Dane Westby and Larry Pegram. Tommy Hayden may test the system later today or tomorrow. Following a late start to dry the track, motorcycles are running today until about 5:00, and after a short break, again from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Ludington said.
