Parkalgar is the 2009 Circuit of the Year with some of the best facilities in the world. It is also the title sponsor to the Parkalgar Honda race team and the riders are counting on home support from the fans on race day, Sunday 28th March, starting at 1330 local time. Keep up-to-date with team progress at www.parkalgarhonda.com. Eugene: “It is nice to go quickest today; it is not often I am fastest in practice or qualifying. I need to keep improving as the rest of the riders will be faster tomorrow. We still have some small changes we need to make to improve my set-up and that will allow us to cut the lap time. The front end of my Parkalgar Honda is feeling very good and is giving excellent feedback and predictability that gives us a strong platform to progress with.” Miguel: “I am happy with sixth and the performance behind that position as well. I am consistent with my lap times while riders around me are not. I am disappointed to crash on the last lap when my ideal time shows I was fifth fastest. I lost the front going into the VIP Tower hairpin but I am unhurt and very positive looking forward. It is brilliant to be racing here in front of my home crowd and already the support is helping me; I want to keep improving all weekend and give the fans that come to Parkalgar something to cheer about.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Team Manager: “Well done to the team for a great effort this afternoon at our home track. Eugene did a lot of work on his bike and was consistently fast well done to Phil and his crew for their efforts. Miguel is riding well and impressed despite a late crash. Mark and his crew have delivered him a fantastic bike capable of running top six. We have a good start to the weekend; it is a pleasure racing here in front of our home crowd and a big motivation for everyone in the squad.” More, from a press release issued by ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing: All Triumph BE1 Racing riders displayed great performances in day 1 of the Portuguese World Supersport round as Chaz Davies took the front provisional row, feverish David Salom qualified in the second row, American Di Salvo took ninth place while newcomer Lagrive finished thirteenth . All in all good results at the prospect of tomorrow’s session, when the starting grid will be determined. CHAZ DAVIES | Triumph Daytona 675 | 4th in 1’46.281 : “My feeling with the bike is better day after day. I posted a great time but I think I can do better than this. We’ll try out some new solutions tomorrow and hopefully will qualify in the front row again in the afternoon”. DAVID SALOM | Triumph Daytona 675 | 8th in 1’46.760 : “I’m happy with today’s result, especially because I wasn’t in my top physical condition. I raced today thanks to the mobile clinic where they managed to lower my fever to 38. I hope I’ll be feeling better tomorrow and hopefully improve my starting position”. JASON DI SALVO | Triumph Daytona 675 | 9th 1’46.779 : “I have a better feeling with the bike now and so it was more like a test because I didn’t really force myself for the speed. However, I know I can do better and hopefully will improve the eighth place I took in Australia”. MATTHIEU LAGRIVE | Triumph Daytona 675 | 13th in 1’47.663 : “I tried to get a good feeling with the bike and I have to say that I like it. I didn’t go for the speed, I focused on the machine and tried to catch up with the others because I haven’t been racing since the last Superbike round of 2009 and so I think this a positive result for me “.
