Noyes Second on Day 2 of Moto2 Tests Kenny Noyes, the lone American competitor in the FIM World Moto2 Championship, took his Jack&Jones-Antonio Banderas Promoharris to an overall second best time on the second day of the three-day Moto2 tests in Valencia. He ended Tuesday’s work on a very positive note by setting the fastest lap in the 50 minute Moto2 “Shoot-out” that gave riders a chance to compete in a simulated qualifying session. Kenny’s time of 1:37.371, an improvement of more than three tenths over his time on the opening day, was enough to edge Toni Elias (Gresini Moriwaki) and move him up to second overall behind reigning 125 World Champion, Julito Simon (Aspar RSV). The Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas team of Noyes and Spanish team mate Joan Olive packed up after today’s session and will not take part in the third day of testing as they prepare for the three-day IRTA test at Jerez de la Frontera that begins on Sunday, March 7th. Kenny and the team were pleased with the progress so far and Kenny summed up the day’s work: “This was another steady step forward on set-up but we are still looking for a bit more front end feel. We have improved corner exit. I can get on the gas early and get out of the corners real good. We are still looking for a little more mid-corner speed, but there is a trade-off between getting a good launch and carrying very high corner speed. “We are going back to Barcelona to get ready for Jerez now. We only had one soft tire left for that final session and I got three 37s in a row out of it. We only had two soft rears for the three days so most of the work was done on the harder Dunlop. But the soft tire is actually what I’d use for a race at this track on a chilly day like this. We are only allowed 1,500 km on the engines and we already have 650 on mine, so Dani (Devahive, team director) decided to load up and save our ammo for Jerez which is our first European race after Qatar and Japan.” Looking ahead to the championship, Noyes said, “We are keeping our feet on the ground and working one day at a time, improving every time we go out. For sure it is going to be a challenge to learn 12 new tracks out of 17, but my team mate has been on the championship trail now for eight years and knows them all. That will help me–and I am working the Playstation real hard!” Moto2 IRTA Tests, Day 2 Top 10 of 37 riders 1. Julian Simon (Spain) Mafre Aspar, RSV: 1:37.156 2.
