NYACK, NY (March 1, 2010) Celtic Racing will debut its 2010 lineup at Daytona International Speedway this week as the Nyack New York-based team embarks on its quest for the Daytona Sportbike Championship. Famed for its high-banks and breathtaking speeds Daytona International Speedway once again kicks off the 2010 AMA Pro Racing Championship season during “Bike Week” with racing action starting on Wednesday March 3rd and capped off with the grueling Daytona 200 on the night of Friday March 5th. Against this legendary backdrop Celtic Racing will continues its mission of developing top roadracing talent with entries American PJ Jacobsen in the Daytona Sportbike class and Bermudian Antoine Richards in the East Coast Top Gun Supersport class. For Jacobsen, the talented 16-year old from upstate New York, 2010 marks the first full season of professional competition with his entry into the Daytona Sportbike championship. Though no stranger to top-level competition with a 125GP wildcard ride at the 2009 Indianapolis MotoGP and podium appearances in the ultra-competitive Spanish National CEV 125 series, Jacobsen had been unable to race in his home national championships prior to his 16th birthday. Having finally reached that 16-year milestone this past August Jacobsen, riding for Celtic Racing, tested the AMA Pro waters at the final round of the 2009 AMA Supersport Championship with PJ capturing pole in his first ever AMA Pro qualifying session and going on to finish a respectable 8th in the race. Encouraged by those strong results the Orient Express-backed team is making the move to the premier Daytona Sportbike class for 2010 which will see Jacobsen compete in all 10 rounds and 18 races across the United States on the #54 Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600. Joining Jacobsen for select-races during the 2010 season is another newcomer to the AMA Pro paddock in Bermuda’s Antoine Richards. Richards, on the #45 Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600, will contest the new AMA “Top Gun” Supersport East Championship which is aimed at developing burgeoning talent and providing a national platform on which to shine. Having only begun his racing career three short years ago the 21-year old Richards has quickly risen through the ranks in the Bermudian national championships and now looks across the pond to the American AMA championship to further develop his skills. PJ Jacobsen – #54 Celtic Racing “The Daytona 200 is the biggest race of the year and I’m excited about finally being a part of this famous event” said Jacobson. “I’ve been with the Celtic Racing team for a longtime now and these guys are like family. I’ve gotten some laps in on the new Suzuki GSX-R 600 and it’s a potent bike. To have this team behind me and such a great bike under me I’m ready for racing to start and looking forward to having a strong year in the Daytona Sportbike class.” Antoine Richards – #45 Celtic Racing “Racing in the United States for a team like Celtic Racing is exactly where I want to be right now” says Richards. “The level of talent in the States is very high and I’m here to gauge myself against that talent and push myself to new levels. I recently got to test my new Suzuki GSX-R 600 and meet the team and its made me even more anxious to get the season underway. The crew is great and the bike is fast so we’ll get out there this week and get this season underway!” On-track action begins Wednesday, March 3rd and fans can tune in Friday night at 9:00pm EST for the Daytona 200 broadcast on SpeedTV.
