My name is LD Holland and I am a personal friend of Gene Church. Gene like many former racers now from the mid eighties has fallen on hard times. Due to the many injuries that Gene has had over the years of racing, his health has kept him from working to support he and his wife. He has applied for disability but as you probably know this is a long and complicated process. I have done all I can do financially to help Gene. As it stands right now , Gene and his wife will be evicted out their small one bedroom apartment in Statesville, NC on Monday 2/22/10 at 10:00 am if he does not recieve funds to pay his back rent. He has been told by his case workers that it will take about a month and a half to get the disability payments started. In the meantime Gene and his wife have nothing left. Gene Church was one of the brightest stars of the mid-eighties riding Don Tilley tuned Harley Davidsons to several BOTT championships. Please consider helping Gene and his wife through these hard times.

Gene’s address is: Gene Church 1868-C Mallard Creek Apartments Statesville, NC 28677 704-872-5989

Thanks,

Richie Morris Racing is pledging $500 to help retired racer Gene Church in his current situation. RMR would like to challenge all other team owners, the AMA, and sponsors to do the same.

Most of us are retired racers who are busted up–let’s help an old comrade.

I would just like to add that I sent $100.00 to Gene’s paypal account and would also like to ask ALL racers to help Gene out.

Gene was a fantastic racer, watching him ride “Lucifer’s Hammer” around Daytona was a thing of beauty.
