Road racing forums were abuzz Tuesday with racers stating that Kawasaki Motor Corp., U.S.A. had dropped its road racing contingency program for 2010, but that information is not accurate. “They announced the dirt side, but they haven’t really announced anything on the road race side [of the 2010 contingency program],” Kawasaki Racing spokesperson Ashley Little told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “They are evaluating it, and I’m sure everyone will be let know when anything happens. “I don’t deal with it directly, but I was told that they are still evaluating the road race side. We’re normally one of the first [manufacturers] to send our stuff out, but obviously the economy isn’t helping at all. They need to evaluate every little thing properly.” The only manufacturer to announce its complete 2010 U.S. road racing contingency program to date is KTM. Honda has announced that its Red Rider Rewards program would continue to support the USGPRU series, and Red Rider Rewards Assistant Manager Keith Dowdle told Roadracingworld.com that they were “still evaluating” the remainder of its road racing contingency plans. Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., American Suzuki and Ducati North America have not yet announced any 2010 road race contingency plans.
