After months of work behind the scenes, Pat Clark Motorsports has finalized deals with Yamaha and former AMA Superbike Champion Ben Bostrom for an assault on the 2010 AMA Pro American Superbike Championship. “We’ve been working on this for months trying to put all the different components together,” Team Manager David Pyles told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “Between putting the team together, finding a shop to work out of and getting Ben signed it’s been a major undertaking. But we signed Ben today, and we’re doing pretty good now.” The team will operate out of a portion of the Erion Racing shop in Anaheim, California. They will take delivery of their factory-team-built YZF-R1 Superbikes this Saturday, before heading to Las Vegas to test alongside the factory Graves Yamaha team January 18-19. Bostrom, who finished fifth in the 2009 AMA Pro American Superbike Championship with eight podium finishes, will be teamed with Chris Clark, son of Team Owner Pat Clark. Chris Clark, age 18, raced in the AMA Supersport and Daytona SportBike classes last season on Bazzaz/Pat Clark Motorsports Yamahas, but did not score any advancement points in Daytona SportBike. Pyles said that Clark was issued a Superbike license anyway, following a special appeal filed with AMA Pro Racing. Working with Pyles will be Technical Director Ron Heben, who worked with the Honda factory team for the last several seasons. Bostrom’s Crew Chief will be former racer Robbie Petersen and his chassis mechanic will be Chris Roman, who worked with Bostrom on the Yamaha factory team last season. Also coming over from the 2009 factory Yamaha team are Clark’s Crew Chief Tony Romo and chassis mechanic Jefferson Burks. Sander Donkers will serve as data technician for both riders. Pyles said he is still looking for a suspension technician.
