Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich won two WERA West Sportsman races on his Dunlop-shod 2009-model GSX-R1000 Sunday at Auto Club Speedway.

Ulrich faced a stiff challenge from Jeremy Toye in both races, Formula One and A Superbike. Toye, riding his Dunlop-equipped Lee’s Cycles’ Honda CBR1000RR, got the holeshot in each sprint, but Ulrich came from behind, turned the fastest lap in each race (his best of the weekend was a 1:25.333, 0.6-second faster than he has ever gone at Auto Club Speedway) and captured a pair of victories to start his 2010 season.

Toye did not go winless, however. He used his Yamaha YZF-R6 Superbike to hold off his young teammate Jimmy Wood by 0.120 second to take first place in C Superbike.

Wood later won the C Superstock race on his Pirelli-fitted Lee’s Cycles/CCCI Kawasaki ZX-6R.

Some other multiple race winners at the event were Lenny Hale, who took victories in B Superstock and B Superbike, and young gun Lex Hartl, who won in 125cc Grand Prix and Formula Two.

The event drew a large turnout of riders and enjoyed unseasonably warm weather.
