Despite breaking his ankle in a training accident last weekend, 2007 World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu is aiming to return to track action on his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR for a pre-season test at Portimao in Portugal at the end of this month. Sofuoglu was training on a motocross bike in the hills near his home in Turkey when his left foot caught in the ground and was severely twisted. A subsequent X-ray confirmed the fracture, but Sofuoglu is determined to be at the World Supersport pre-season test at Portimao on 22-24 January. “I was just riding in the hills,” explained the 25-year-old from Adapazari in northern Turkey, “because we don’t really have motocross tracks here. The doctors said it would normally require six weeks in plaster but I am sure it can be faster than that. It’s certainly not three months like I have read on some websites!” “Unfortunately, it is my left ankle, which is my gear change foot” continued Sofuoglu. “We had a good test at Valencia in December and it’s very important for the 2010 season that we get some more testing time before the season begins, so I will be working really, really hard to be fit for the test.”
