Two-time Supersport World Champion Andrew Pitt has signed on to be teammate to Roland Resch on the privateer Reitwagen Motorsports team, which will run BMW S1000RRs in the 2010 Superbike World Championship, according to a report appearing on the series’ official website. The report states that some former members of the Stiggy Racing squad will also join the team, including Stiggy Racing Team Owner Johan Stigefelt and former racer Peter Goddard, who currently works as a suspension tuning specialist. Pitt, age 33, won the Supersport World Championship in 2001 and again in 2008, but he struggled somewhat while defending his crown in 2009 and only finished on the podium two times (both second place) and sixth in the final Championship point standings. The Australian finished fifth in the 2006 Superbike World Championship with seven podiums and one win while riding for Yamaha, and he also raced in the MotoGP World Championship (full-time in 2003 and part-time in 2004).
