Jeff Wood ended his year with CCS Florida, the same way he started, taking the victory in the Unlimited Grand Prix race. Wood led the event from start to finish on his Bettencourts-sponsored Suzuki GSX-R1000. Behind him, local favorite Sean Dwyer held fast in second place on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 while holding back Eric Wood, Jeff Wood’s older brother, on his Desmomaniacs-sponsored Ducati 1098.

Jeff Wood also won the GTO and Unlimited Superbike races after taking early leads in both classes and spreading the gap on the rest of the field. On the podium, he stated, “I had a lot of fun. Sean, I knew he was fast all weekend. And I knew my brother was gonna catch up. I just put my head down and rode as hard as I could. Dunlop gave me some great tires this weekend. We rode the new AMA spec tires and got into the 1:24s on those, so they’re pretty impressive. And, I just rode as hard as I could.”

Dwyer won the Unlimited Supersport race and finished just behind Jeff Wood, again taking second in the GTO and Unlimited Superbike classes. Eric Wood won the Heavyweight Superbike race.

Kevin Mendez was the weekend’s biggest winner with five first-place finishes. Mendez nabbed early leads and ran away with victories in all his classes: GT Lights, Lightweight Grand Prix, Lightweight Formula 40, Lightweight Superbike and Thunderbike.

Michael Barnes had a near clean sweep with four first-place finishes. Barnes won the GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport and Middleweight Superbike classes on VRC Racing’s Yamaha YZF-R6. Barnes also finished second in Heavyweight Superbike.
