Next Moto Champion will be awarding a $5000 product sponsorship package to its 2009 Next Moto Champion winner, and the organization is accepting racer resumes and race results from those who want to be considered for the award. Jon Boucher, a racing dad and producer of the proposed “Next Moto Champion” reality television show, says that the winner of the product package will be chosen on the basis of race wins – and how difficult it was to get those wins. “The point of the sponsorship package is to help youth riders get to the next levels – the 125s and 250s,” Boucher says. “You lose about 80 percent of the youth riders when they try to make the jump to that next level because of the cost. The 2009 Next Moto Champion will have been on a 150cc four-stroke bike or smaller in 2009, have the highest winning percentage in a single class, and we will take into consideration the average number of competitors per race. It’s race wins, and the number of riders they beat.” Selecting the winner will be Boucher, SCminiGP President Josiah Taulbee, CMRA President Christopher Corder, and Ryan Fleming, President of NJminiGP. The winner will receive a custom Pilot racing suit, Chickenhawk tire warmers, Pit Bull front and rear stands, an HJC helmet, Aruba Sport sunglasses, Vortex sprockets, Spider grips, Rooster Racing gloves and coaching from Doug Polen One-on-One, from Fastrack Riders and from Can Akkaya from Superbike-coach.com. The winner of the sponsorship package is scheduled to be announced December 11. Resumes and race results will be accepted for consideration through December 4. Resumes and race results should be emailed to [email protected], and Boucher can be reached at (310) 382-0754.
