AMA Pro Racing has eliminated the MotoGT class, opened up SuperSport to Expert-licensed club racers and has cut purses dramatically in American Superbike, Daytona Sportbike and Supersport for 2010. Riders who compete in Supersport will not be allowed to also compete in Daytona SportBike. Purse payouts in American Superbike and Daytona SportBike will continue to be made on the basis of total points earned on a race weekend, not on an individual race finish. In American Superbike, the team fielding the rider who earns the most points will be paid $3500 in purse with second-place in points earning $2000 and third-place in points earning $1000. There is no payout for finishing a weekend fourth or lower in points. In the Daytona SportBike class, earning the most points on the weekend will pay $5000, with $3000 for second-place in points, $2000 for third, $1500 for fourth through 10th in points and $1000 for 11th through 20th. The rider earning the most points in the SuperSport class will be paid $1500 with $1000 for second and $500 for third through 10th. Event weekends will be cut to eliminate Friday morning practice, with more practice on Saturday morning and all classes racing Saturday afternoon. The Sunday schedule will mirror Saturday’s schedule and Superpole has been eliminated and “every practice session will be timed. Each rider’s best time will be used to determine who has qualified for the races and to set the grids.” Details of the 2010 deal can be seen here: ~http://www.amaproracing.com/assets/2010SBandNtlProCompLicenseApp.pdf~ More can be seen here: ~http://www.amaproracing.com/assets/2010NatlJrCompLicenseApp.pdf~
