Teterin Motosport rider Jordan Burgess is eager to finish off the 2009 Australian Superstock 1000 Championship with a victory at the season finale this weekend at the world famous Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria. The 24-year-old from Newcastle in New South Wales has been the revelation of this year’s Superstock 1000 series onboard a Motologic Racing-prepared Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR, already picking up a pair of victories during the first four rounds of the season. Burgess currently sits in second place in the title chase with a mathematical chance of winning the championship should arch-rival Pat Medcalf experience bad luck over the weekend, with 51 points separating the dominant riders going into the fifth and final round. An impressive top 10 finish in the Superbike category during the MotoGP World Championship support races last month has added to Burgess’ confidence heading into the weekend where he’ll be back in the Superstock 1000 class, with a fulltime switch to the premier ASBK category planned for 2010. An added boost for Burgess has came since the MotoGP weekend in the form of a new supporter, sunglass company Sabre joining the team in a personal sponsorship role with the popular Burgess to round out the season. More information on Sabre Sunglasses can be sourced at www.sabre.fm. Burgess and his Superstock 1000 compatriots will hit the 4.445-kilometre circuit for the first time on Friday morning, with qualifying set to take place later that afternoon and on Saturday morning. Racing for the STK1000 class will span over Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Jordan Burgess Superstock 1000 #33 “I am really pumped coming into this last round of the championship. The lead-up to this final round of the Superstock 1000 Championship has been a long time coming and I am aiming for the round win, which would be a great way to repay my supporters especially my dad and the team. It’s going to be an exciting battle for the lead, but I am well prepared, fit and the bike is fast so I am giving myself every chance for top results. I have also been lucky enough to attract the attention from Sabre Sunglasses. These guys produce some awesome styles of glasses which are sold worldwide and support a number of high profile athletes so I feel quite privileged to be associated with them!”
