Jeffrey Tigert Successfully Wraps Up The 2009 WSMC Season With 3 Class Championships and the Overall #1 plate. Last weekend’s 2009 WSMC season wrap up couldn’t have gone off smoother for Jeffrey. CM Motorsports/Sport Tire Dunlop backed Tigert scored wins in both the Open Superbike and Formula Twins Lightweight, with these wins Tigert was able to secure the WSMC Overall Points Championship and will be displaying the #1 plate on his 2008 CBR1000RR for the 2010 WSMC season. Tigert also achieved two more class track records this past weekend, adding Formula 1 and Formula Twins Lightweight to the Open Superbike and Open Mod Prod records set previously in the year. November’s Formula 1 race was the first of the year Tigert did not achieve a podium finish, but instead a mid-race Dunlop tire swap saw him attack the long standing Formula 1 class record held previously by Jake Zemke in 2002. His strategy didn’t work as planned for entering the 1:19 lap time range, as traffic on his second flying lap cost him valuable tenths of a second. Despite this minor stumble, Jeffrey was able to eclipse Zemke’s record on his first full lap at speed adding his 4th class track record for the season. Tigert is now looking to the 2010 season where he will attempt to campaign the AMA American Superbike Championship. Please contact Jeffrey if you would like to come aboard for support for his 2010 AMA season. Thank You. More, from a press release issued by Sport Tire Services Inc: Last Sunday the 15th of Nov. 2009 saw the 11th and final round of racing for the Willow Springs Motorcycle Club in Southern California. The headlines were many: Chris Ulrich on his Roadracing World.com GSXR1000 won a close race for the 12 lap Toyota Cup F-1 race, the first of his career at the famed race track. Carl Lowry on his Graves Yamaha (#1 for the last 2 seasons) was second, and Reno Karimian finished 3rd in the F-1 race for the first time ever. Congratulations to all 3 riders! Then in the same race Jeff Tigert set a new out right F-1 motorcycle track record turning a lap of 1:20:186! He also clinched the clubs overall #1 plate for the 2009 season that same day. Congrats to you Jeff, and Very Well Done! One more 1st happened that went largely unnoticed on that cool and breezy Sunday afternoon. The final points tally at the end of the 17th race Sunday showed that something very rare had occurred. All of the top 10 in the overall points chase were on the same tire brand. “I could be wrong, but I believe this has never happened at Willow Springs, at least not in my 20 years of attending these club races.” said Gabe Smith, Sport Tire Service’s Willow Springs service/sales rep. www.dunlopracing.com Here are the club’s top 10 overall: 1st Jeff Tigert- Jett Tuning-Cycle Mall Motorsports 2nd Karl Lowry- Chuck Graves/Graves Motorsports 3rd Chris Duran- A.I.P.-Graves Motorsports 4th Ken Kramer- Mark Kramer- WSMC 5th Frank Gray- Robert Gray-Krista Callahan 6th Chris Speights 7th Eric Nolan- Moto Forza-WSMC 8th Matt Quigley- R. Dunlop’s Superbike racing tires are standard 17″ slicks and are the same ones used at all of the AMA Superbike Races this year. Dunlop has simply made them available to everyone at the track for track day use or club racing. Rest assured that these same tires can be purchased off our Dunlop trailer at the track or over the phone at 800-776-8473.” said Gabe Smith, Sport Tire Service’s Willow Springs service/sales rep. www.dunlopracing.com
