SOUTH BELOIT, IL. On October 12, 2009 eighty-four year, lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Cliff Liddicoat’s Final Wish came true at the Blackhawk Farms Raceway All Levels Motorcycle Track Day presented by Dunlop, Speed & Strength, Arai, & Tucker Rocky Monday October 12th, 2009 . Thanks in part to his loving wife, Jean Liddicoat, dedicated volunteers, nursing staff from Passages Hospice, Rockford Astra Care Center, Rockford Motorcycle Museum, Blackhawk Farms Raceway & Motovid.com, Cliff was back in the saddle again after a fifty-seven (57) year hiatus. Only this time he was riding shotgun in a Harley-Davidson motorcycle sidecar on a racetrack, his lifelong dream. Fifty-seven years ago, Cliff hung up his gear out of respect for his bride, who did not like motorcycles but knew he loved them. She was concerned about safety, yet understood the sacrifice. This special request came from the nurses at the hospice who contacted Kathleen Casey, Blackhawk Farms Raceway’s Event Coordinator to inquiry about the idea. “It just so happened, Tucker Rocky scheduled a late Track Day event with us at the end of the season and the timing worked out perfectly”. Casey added “It gave me goosebumps watching them go down the front straight with onlookers cheering him on. We were happy to play a small part in this” Event sponsors Tucker Rocky, Dunlop, Speed & Strength, and Arai opened a special session on track for Cliff while Motovid.com provided lead instructors, video bikes, photographers to follow the entire ride and capture the experience on a souvenir DVD for his family.
