AMA racer Santiago Villa had a perfect weekend at his home track Tocancipa Raceway, near Bogota, Colombia. He claimed pole position during qualifying on Saturday and won both races in the doubleheader event on Sunday. That performance moved Villa into second place in the Championship point standings, even though he missed the first round of the series because he was busy racing in the AMA Daytona SportBike Championship. “It’s great to win again,” said Villa, “but it’s a shame that Martin [Cardenas] was not there. To be the best you have to beat the best, and in this case Martin is the best my country have ever seen. He is the best rider and my teacher, so I wanted him to be there. But I know next time he will. It’s my birthday, so what a better gift — a perfect weekend for me. I did everything right, and it’s a great feeling to finally win again.” FIRST RACE TOP 5 1.
