AMA racer Santiago Villa qualified on pole position for the premier class of the Colombian National Championship today at Tocancipa Raceway, near Bogota, Colombia. Villa turned a time of 1:13.206 on a Yamaha YZF-R6 equipped with AMA Daytona SuperBike spec Dunlop tires. Team M4 Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas tried to ride during practice, but pain in his broken right hand (which ruled him out of the 2009 AMA season finale) forced to him to withdraw from the event. “It’s a shame that Martin couldn’t race,” said Villa, who is close friends with Cardenas. “His hand is still bothering him, and he needs to take care of it and heal for his next race at Daytona. He is the one who pushes me here a lot in our races in Colombia, so he will be missed. Still, it’s going to be an exciting race, and I hope I can take the win for my sponsors Addict By Bosi, Bodytech, Moto Xtreme and P3 RACING.” TOP 15 RESULTS: 1. SANTIAGO VILLA, 1:13.206 2.
