Wyman To Compete In Daytona Sportbike Class At NJMP Macedon, NY – Kyle Wyman will compete in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike class this weekend at the AMA Pro Road Racing season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Kyle will race the Harv’s Harley-Davidson sponsored #133 Yamaha YZF-R6. Kyle will not compete in AMA Pro Supersport at NJMP. The national champion flat track racer made the switch to road racing in 2008, and has been acquainting himself with the new discipline over the past 18 months. He will take the next step in the learning curve by making the move to Daytona Sportbike. “Daytona Sportbike racing is ultimately where I wanted to end up this year. My goal was to keep learning and establish a good base for my riding,” said Wyman, “then my next goal is to maximize the value of each lap on the track, and I think moving to Daytona Sportbike will give me the opportunity to latch on to people and keep making progress.” Look for Kyle back on the Supersport grid for the AMA Pro Supersport Shootout at Daytona International Speedway in October. About Wyman Bros. Racing Wyman Bros. Racing (WBR) is a family based race team out of Macedon, NY consisting of three brothers: Kyle, Travis, and Cody Wyman. All former flat track racers, the team has recently moved into road racing and will soon field all three riders in the AMA Pro Road Racing series. More, from a press release issued by Pegram Racing: PEGRAM LOOKS TO END SEASON WITH A BANG AT NEW JERSEY FINALE Millville, New Jersey Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati’s Larry Pegram will race this weekend in the AMA Pro American Superbike season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Pegram looks to top off a successful season in New Jersey, one that has seen him earn three victories during his return season to the Superbike class. While Larry has already made his season memorable with the unforgettable Road America shootout with seven-time AMA Superbike champion Mat Mladin and with his stunning Topeka double victory, he has two more chances to put the Ducati 1098R into victory circle this weekend. The New Jersey Motorsports Park circuit is hosting their first AMA Pro American Superbike National this weekend. The 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway course will be used. Pegram and the other top AMA Pro American Superbike teams tested at the circuit earlier this summer. “We tested at New Jersey and I think it’ll be pretty good,” said Pegram. “Our pace has been competitive with the fastest riders at the recent races. We’ve won a few and at some of the others we had some issues but our race pace has been one of the best out there this year. In all honesty, VIR was going to be one of our worst tracks and our lap times were right there with everyone except for the guy who won both races and we weren’t that far off his times. The Ducati 1098R is a great bike and the team is working fantastic. We’re excited to wrap up the season in New Jersey and we want to end it the best way possible, of course.” The races will be televised on Speed TV. The Saturday race show beings at 7:30 PM EST and Sunday’s show will air at midnight EST. More, from a press release issued by Buell: AMA DAYTONA SPORTBIKE SHOWDOWN LOOMS AT NJMP Eslick Leads Cardenas by 17-point Margin With Two Races to Go East Troy, Wis. – Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Racing/RMR/GEICO Powersports rider Danny Eslick heads into the season-ending AMA Pro Racing double-header this Labor Day weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park with a 17-point lead over rival Martin Cardenas (Team M4 Suzuki) and hopes of clinching his first AMA Pro roadracing championship in the Daytona SportBike class aboard the Buell 1125R. With six wins and 16 top ten finishes in the season’s 17 races to date, Eslick has worked his way back into the points lead with three straight wins at Mid-Ohio and Heartland Park, followed by strong second and seventh place finishes at Virginia International Raceway last month. Eslick leads Cardenas by 17 points and is 36 points ahead of the hard-charging Josh Herrin (Graves Yamaha), who swept both Daytona SportBike races at VIR, but with 63 points remaining up for grabs this weekend, it’s still anyone’s championship to claim. “This first season of AMA Pro Racing under new leadership has been truly exciting, both in American Superbike and Daytona Sportbike,” said Erik Buell, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company. “We have had multiple winners on multiple brands in both classes, and Daytona SportBike is going into the final event with three possible winners on three different brands still in contention. It’s been a real honor for us to be a small part of this great new series. I really look forward to what AMA Pro Racing’s future will bring to all the riders and teams who have been working so hard and so long at a sport that has languished undeveloped. I think a few years from now we will really be seeing a huge increase in motorcycle roadracing interest from the public, and see our sport get the fame and fortune it has deserved.” In the American Superbike class, standout privateer Taylor Knapp will again ride the new Buell 1125RR race bike he debuted in July at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in addition to riding the Latus Motors Buell 1125R in the Daytona SportBike class. Privateer Cory West will also race an 1125RR at NJMP in American Superbike. Saturday’s two-hour team endurance race at NJMP is the penultimate round in 2009 SunTrust Moto-GT series, where the Liberty Waves/H-D/Buell of Antelope Valley team of Eric Pinson and Eric Haugo are currently second in points in the Moto-GT1 class and hoping close their 11-point gap to the class leading Triumph of Crozier Motorsports. American Superbike, Daytona SportBike, and former Moto-ST racer Shawn Higbee will join Paul James and the James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing team for the NJMP round, replacing Jeff Johnson for the weekend. Higbee will also join James and Johnson as a third rider for the 8 Hours at Daytona race for the conclusion of the Moto-GT season championship on October 16-18. Founded by visionary motorcycle designer and former privateer racer Erik Buell in 1983, Buell Motorcycle Company, a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc., produces sport motorcycles, motorcycle parts, accessories and apparel, including the 1125R superbike, 1125CR café racer, and air-cooled XB-series Ulysses, Firebolt, and Lightning. More, from a press release issued by Damian Cudlin’s publicist: CUDLIN TO MAKE AMA SBK DEBUT Damian Cudlin’s 2009 AMA season has been anything but lucky. Making his AMA debut in the Daytona Sportbike series this year, Cudlin made an impact at various rounds this season, featuring in multiple Superpole sessions and scoring a best finish of 5th at Road America. However his aspirations took a hit when he found himself on the sidelines at a number of races, after losing his ride twice in two different teams. The young Aussie will be hoping for the ‘luck of the Irish’ this weekend however, as he’s been chosen to ride for the Celtic Racing Team in the AMA SBK final in New Jersey. The Irish team has tasted success this season in the hands of Michael Laverty, who is forced to miss the Jersey round due to conflicting World Supersport commitments. The chance to fill in for Laverty is seen as a lifeline for Cudlin who’ll make his AMA SBK debut at the New Jersey Motorsports Park. “I’m really grateful that I’ve got this opportunity to show what I’m made of and that I’m back on the racetrack.” Cudlin explained. “It’s been a tough season for me here in the states and I really needed a chance like this to get things back on track. Barry Gilsenan from Celtic has really thrown me a bone here and I want to make the most of it and get a strong result at Jersey.” Cudlin was quick to recognize the person who had the biggest influence in Celtic’s latest replacement; series champion and fellow Aussie, Mat Mladin. “I want to thank Mat for the support he’s given me over the years and the way he’s made this happen for me. Most people would think the most successful racer in AMA history would have enough on his plate in his final appearance on American soil at New Jersey. But not Mat. It shows what kind of bloke he really is and I really appreciate it. I know he won’t cut me any slack on the racetrack though” Cudlin smiled. The final races of the AMA season will commence on the 5/6th September. More, from a press release issued by Ducshop Performance: TOURING SPORT DUCSHOP DUCATI HOPES TO LEAVE NJ WITH CROWN Touring Sport Ducshop Ducati heads to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend for the penultimate round of the AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT championship with high hopes of securing their third consecutive championship title. Frank Shockley and Huntley Nash will ride the GT2 class leading No. 77 PS1000LE while Pete Friedland and Brad Phillips will ride the team’s No. 38 bike. Shockley and Nash need only finish on the podium to clinch the title, a good chance considering their near-perfect season. According to the AMA they have “the distinction of having the best finishing record in AMA Pro Road Racing in 2009 with four wins and three second-place finishes in seven starts this season”. Last year’s race at NJMP was a difficult one for the team. While battling for the lead an oil fitting came loose forcing them into the pits, finishing in third place. Team owner Frank Shockley is hoping for a smooth race this year. The season finale will be at Daytona International Speedway on October 17. More, from a press release issued by Michael Jordan Motorsports: MICHAEL JORDAN MOTORSPORTS RACES INTO NEW JERSEY FOR THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 2009 AMA SEASON CHICAGO, IL (September 4, 2009) Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) takes to the brand new New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) facility over the Labor Day weekend for the final round of this season’s AMA Pro Racing competition. With ten rounds behind them, the MJM team comes into Round 11 excited about racing at the new NJMP course and in front of what is sure to be an enthusiastic crowd. Round 11 marks AMA Pro Racing’s first foray back into the northeast market in more than five years. With great weather predicted for the three day event and several metropolitan cities close by, the final round is shaping up to be one of the strongest events of the year. MJM riders Aaron Yates and Geoff May both familiarized themselves with the 2.25 mile “Thunderbolt” raceway at the official AMA test and came away impressed with the facility. Boasting modern amenities, a flowing layout and supportive staff, the NJMP event has quickly become one the team has looked forward to since the test. Eager to close the season out strongly, both riders come into the finale with one goal in mind: winning. On-track action begins Friday, September 3rd with practice, qualifying and Superpole kicking off at 9:40 a.m. The National Guard American Superbike races then take place on both Saturday and Sunday, with same-day coverage broadcast on SpeedTV. Jordan Suzuki #23 Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates comes into Round 11 at NJMP looking to capitalize on a solid performance at Round 10 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), which saw the veteran rider capture a pair of top five finishes (P4, P5). The 2008 Superstock Champion currently sits seventh in the American Superbike championship and is still seeking Michael Jordan Motorsports’ first Superbike victory. Yates, piloting his #23 GSX-R 1000, showed good speed at the AMA test at NJMP and his striking white and black Jordan Suzuki will be one fans will want to watch once the green flag flies. “New tracks are always fun for us riders and NJMP is no different,” said Yates. “The test here went well and it’s a nice little place they have here. Our Jordan Suzuki felt good last time it was on the track and I’m really going to be going for it this weekend. The crew has worked hard all season long and I’d like to close the year out up on the podium for all the guys on the team, fans and folks that support us.” National Guard Jordan Suzuki #54 Round 11, the final round of the 2009 season, is one that Geoff May and the National Guard Jordan Suzuki team are ready for. Showing remarkable resilience during the 2009 season, the #54 team has experienced both the highs and lows of racing over the 11 round series. With three podium finishes to their credit, the National Guard Jordan Suzuki team, led by rider Geoff May, is looking to bounce back after a pair of frustrating results at Round 10 at VIR. The ultra-smooth May is always a threat to the podium and comes into New Jersey ready to fight to the finish. “It’s go time,” said May. “It’s the last race of the year and it’s no secret the last few rounds haven’t been what we’ve wanted, so I’m coming out swinging here at NJMP. I’m going to do all I can do put my National Guard Jordan Suzuki back on the podium to close out the year! Our fans, friends and sponsors have been amazing all year long and I’m looking to really give them a good finish.”
