Airwaves Yamaha head to the 2.18 mile circuit knowing they can secure the title should its rider Leon Camier score 21 more points than the nearest non-Airwaves Yamaha rider. The fight for the crown would then be between Leon and teammate James Ellison when the Championship travels to Croft in North Yorkshire two weeks later. Currently leading the Championship on 374.5 points, Leon secured the first ever triple-victory in the series at the previous round, becoming the most successful British Superbike rider in terms of wins in a single season. On this weekend, Leon commented, “This season has been incredible, and hopefully our good form will continue at Cadwell Park. I’d like to try and put my fall from a couple of years ago firmly behind me with some good results. “It’s been a busy couple of weeks since the last race at Brands Hatch. I’ve been training as usual, but also taking part in some races of a slightly different sort. Last week I entered the ‘Surrey League Revolutions 5-day cycle race’. Around 80 of Britain’s top riders take part and cover around 100 miles a day, as well as climbing some of the steepest hills in South East England. It was great to be pushing myself against some of the top cyclists and actually be amongst it. But I’m looking forward to getting back on my Airwaves Yamaha this weekend!” With two victories and a further 6 podiums secured so far this season, James is in the hunt for the Championship with 261 points. He’s determined to have two strong races this weekend saying, “I didn’t race at Cadwell Park last year due to injury, and so I want to make up for it on the Airwaves Yamaha. It’s a circuit I really enjoy, and I think we should put on a good show for the fans. “Since the last Round, I stayed down in Kent for a while as we had an event with the GSE Group. The event itself was great fun, but it also gave me the opportunity to do some training in the sunshine for once, plus have a chance to relax with the team on the golf course. Since then I’ve gone back to my normal training routine back at home, plus I’ve managed to sort out a brand new motor home from F1RV.com. A good couple of weeks, but I can’t wait to get back racing.” Round 9 of the British Superbike Championship takes place on 29/30/31 August at Cadwell Park.
