THE END OF AN ERA FOR GSE RACING AND AIRWAVES Wrigley’s Airwaves has today (21st August 2009) announced that it will step down as the title sponsor of the Championship winning GSE Racing team at the end of the 2009 British Superbike season. The highly successful partnership between Airwaves and GSE Racing began in 2005. In the five seasons since, the team has secured a massive 61 victories, and is well on its way to securing a third Championship title. Commenting on the decision, Toby Baker, Wrigley’s Marketing Director said, “It is with great sadness that we have made the decision to step down as title sponsor of GSE Racing. We have had an unrivaled amount of success as Airwaves Ducati, and then as Airwaves Yamaha, both on and off the track. The benefits we have received as title sponsor have had an enormous impact upon a successful marketing campaign for the Airwaves brand. As the team look set to secure yet another Championship crown, we feel as though the time is right for another partner to reap the benefits we’ve had since 2005.” Team Principal Darrell Healey added, “First and foremost, GSE Racing would like to thank Wrigley’s Airwaves for their involvement and contribution to the team’s success over the past 5 years. Testament to the hard work of all concerned, the Airwaves brand has become synonymous with the British Superbike Championship in recent seasons. “The team at GSE Racing will be in discussion with a number of brands regarding title sponsorship for the 2010 season onwards for which we have an ongoing contract as a fully supported factory team with Yamaha. This is a very exciting period for the team, and we look forward to sharing the journey with another like-minded brand.”
