Records Fall With WMRRA At Pacific Raceways

Fierce battle in WMRRA Round 6 drops Pacific Raceways track record multiple times

WMRRA Round 6 had some fantastic racing, showcasing some of the best racers in the Pacific Northwest.

On Sunday, August 9th, on the 2nd lap of the Open Supersport race, Mike MacConaghy on his Dunlop shod Aurora Suzuki GSXR1000 broke the Pacific Raceways overall track record of 1:24:062, previously set by himself with a lap time of 1:23:900. One lap later, Ross DeLong on his Dunlop shod Paulsen’s Suzuki GSXR1000 re-broke the record with a time of 1:23:817. The race was stopped one lap later for a red flag and resumed shortly after. Mike and Ross continued a fierce battle for the remainder of the race, with MacConaghy beating DeLong at the line by 0.013 seconds. Mike MacConaghy went on to win WMRRA’s premier class, Formula Ultra later in the day.

Former WMRRA #1 plate holder Eli Edwards set the 600 class track record in 600 Supersport on his Dunlop shod Yamaha R6 with an unbelievable time of 1:25:234, faster than the 750 class record. Also falling this weekend was the 750 class track record in the 750 Superbike race, when Ross DeLong turned a time of 1:25:444. Edwards went on to win 2 races this weekend, while DeLong won 5 races. Edwards and DeLong are currently #1 and #2 in the WMRRA Overall Championship standings.

This past weekend was also was home to WMRRA’s annual Sounds of the Past event. Vintage bikes from up and down the West coast come up to participate in this the various races held throughout the weekend. The Sounds of the Past races kicked off Saturday with the ever popular Puget Sound Greyhound Adoption Formula 160 race.

All times were recorded by AMB electronic timing system and are certified correct by WMRRA scoring officials.
