Dominguez Wins Four CMRA Races At Hallett Motor Racing Circuit

Dustin Dominguez rode a Kawasaki ZX-6 to four wins this weekend at round seven of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s championship series at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, near Hallett, Oklahoma. Under hot and humid conditions, Dominguez started from near the back of the grid in each race and worked his way to the front to claim wins in the RaceworX A Superstock, South Central Race Center C Superstock, Island Racing Services C Superbike and B Superstock races. The Oklahoma rider also added a second place finish in the AVTEQ A Superbike race and a third in the B Superbike race to finish out a productive day of racing.

“I haven’t been racing the series that much so I had to start at the back of the grid, but I was able to work my way up to get some pretty good wins,” said Dominguez. “I had some good battles with Cory Burleson and Danny Kelsey in a couple of races, which made it fun.”

To his credit, Dominguez had to deal with flu-like symptoms on the day of the race and suffered from dehydration by the end of the day, complicated by the extreme heat which had moved into the area for the weekend.

Topping Dominguez in the AVTEQ A Superbike race was Suzuki rider Derek Wagnon, who also added a win in the B Superbike race. Wagnon has been on a roll in the A Superbike class, and his Hallett win made for three-straight in the division and he now holds a substantial lead over Ty Howard in the class standings.

Jon Francis also had a good day, taking wins in the D Superbike, Unlimited Motard, Lightweight Twins and Clubman races.

Two riders claimed their first Expert-class wins at Hallett, with Jeremy Kidd taking the win in the Formula 1 race, while Brian Cox won the Formula 40 Heavyweight race.

Clint Shobert, son of former AMA Grand National Champion Bubba Shobert, took an impressive win in the GMAN Racing 125 GP, his first-ever in the division.

Other Hallett Expert-class winners included Tyler McDonald (Super Motard), Eric Falt (F40 Lightweight), Van Blaylock (Heavyweight Twins), Jess Foltz (E Superstock), Cameron Kirk (Classic Unlimited) and Conner Blevins (Formula 2).

In the Novice divisions, Cory Clark took three wins, topping the A Superstock, A Superbike and Formula 1 divisions, while four riders finished with two wins each: Michael Bradshaw (Formula 40 Heavyweight, Heavyweight Twins), Blake Cochran (Ridesmart C Superbike, B Superbike), Alonzo Contreras (Moto Liberty C Superstock, B Superstock), and Tony Ta (Ridesmart Lightweight Twins, Formula 2).

In Saturday’s endurance races, Moto-Ace Racing (Cory Burleson, Derek Wagnon, Joe Prussiano, Jeremy Kidd, Clint Shobert) finished with a four-lap advantage over Lawdawg Racing (Dustin Dominguez, James Keenan, Daniel Dominguez, Jeremy Kidd, Darnell Dorsey) to win the four-hour CMRA Big Bike Endurance race. Meanwhile, Team Gleam (Conner Blevins, Marcus Beedle, Bryan West, Marcus Beedle) finished with three laps to spare over Team Sidewinder (Derrick Patman, Stephen Guynes, Derek Thomas, Lindsey Leard, Greg Wanless) to win the three-hour CMRA Formula Mini Endurance race.

The CMRA returns to action on September 5-6 at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson, Texas, for a full slate of sprint racing in addition to big bike and mini endurance races.
