ASBK final round date and venue change International Entertainment Group (IEG), together with Motorcycling Australia, has today confirmed that Victoria’s Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit will be the venue for the final round of the 2009 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), to be held from 27 29 November. The Superbikes race alongside the World Superbike Championship and Moto GP events at Phillip Island each year, but this will be the first time in many years that all support classes of the ASBK will get the opportunity to race at Australia’s only permanent international circuit. “Due to circumstances beyond IEG and MA’s control, both the date and venue for the final round of the Championship needed to change. I would like to extend my thanks to both the Preston Motorcycle Club for their willingness to adjust their scheduled event and Winton Raceway for their assistance.” said IEG Director Yarrive Konsky. “We looked at all our options and we are thrilled that the Australian Superbike Championship finale will now be showcased at Phillip Island, which is one of the best racetracks in Australia, if not the world. “Phillip Island will provide a fantastic venue to what is sure to be a thrilling conclusion to this year’s Championship- we are confident that the final round at Phillip Island will be an event to remember.” The next round of the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship will be held at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend from 7-9 August. The remaining rounds of the 2009 Championship are: Rd 4, Eastern Creek, NSW, August 7-9 Rd 5, Mallala, SA, August 28-30 Rd 6, Phillip Island, VIC (Moto GP), October 15-18 Rd 7, Phillip Island, VIC, November 27-29
