Tomas Puerta won third spot on the grid with his performance, and Huntley Nash earned fifth as they prepare for tomorrow’s 16-lap race. Puerta entered the weekend with an injured hand and has been in a lot of pain when riding, but the Colombian teenager was able to post a time of 1:50.645. “I wasn’t happy with yesterday, so we wanted to turn things around today. The conditions were not ideal in the morning but we achieved our goal of the front row and now we’re looking forward to the race.” Huntley Nash (1:51.308) was fifth in qualifying and is ready to chase more points in Sunday’s race. “I’ve been trying so hard for the front row all year and right after qualifying I was a little bummed we didn’t get it here,” said Nash. “Fifth place is good, though. We have been working hard on the bike all weekend and I’d like to thank the crew. We’re looking for a good race on Sunday and that’s our goal to have a solid race and earn more points. We’re tied for fourth right now and just one point behind third place.” Nash, teamed with Corey Rech, won the Moto-GT2 class for Touring Sport Ducshop Ducati. It was the second race in a row the teen duo has won. This time they rode the #77 machine. “We were stoked to win it again,” said Huntley. “Corey rode first and had a tough battle but the bike he was racing against crashed out. When I got on at the pit stop, we had a lead and I did my best to keep up the pace. You never know what’s going to happen in an hour stint so each lap can end up being vital. Thanks to the team and Frank for letting us ride again.” Tomorrow’s SuperSport race begins at 3:00PM.
