Australian Damian Cudlin’s 2009 AMA assault suffered a cruel blow this week, receiving the news from his Paradigm Racing Team that his “many talents will no longer be used for the remainder of the season”. The news, which came via email whilst Cudlin was racing in the Suzuka 8 Hour in Japan, has shocked the young Aussie who’d been making his presence felt in the Daytona Sportbike series with the Paradigm Team after losing his first ride of the season at ESP Yamaha due to the team’s lack of finances. “I’m pretty disappointed that this situation has put me back on sidelines and effectively back to square one.” Cudlin explained. “I’d been putting in a lot of effort for this team and achieved some results at tracks I’d never seen before which I thought were pretty good. It’s a shame that doesn’t seem to count for much right now.” In the four races he competed in with the Paradigm Racing Team, Cudlin achieved three Top 10 overall finishes, 2 Superpole appearances, and the team’s best race result of 5th in Road America. Despite missing both the Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca rounds of the AMA series, Cudlin currently lies 14th in the Daytona Sportbike series. Cudlin will travel to Topeka, Kansas in a bid to secure a new ride for the remaining races of the series, but concedes he’ll need to be lucky to find a competitive seat this late in the season. “It’s really hard coming to a team without backing when so many riders are willing to just open their cheque books these days. Hopefully I’ll find a team that is interested in my speed, more than my bank balance.” Anyone interested in contacting Damian can contact him via his website www.damiancudlin.com
